Frosting is too heavy and overly sweet. Sometimes less is more. Cut back on the sugar and dense greasy mouth feel and it just might be pretty good. The cake part isn’t bad. Price is probably about average. I am so over this cupcake craze!
AMAZING service. Cannot even begin to explain how amazing this establishment is. I called them for a last minute birthday suprise delivery and they were extremely accomdating. They were very informative and so helpful! They made sure I was well taken care!I would HIGHLY recommend SmallCakes Cupcakery in Smyrna to anyone looking for a delicious cupcake and fantastic service!
Who doesn’t like a little cake. No doubt about it, boutique cupcake spots opening around town don’t seem to be slowing down. While it’s hard to judge someplace so newly opened, I’ve been a couple times and they’ve been consistently very good. The huge differentiator on cupcakes like these seems to be the style of icing, with the weight & texture of the cake being important, but not often the selling point. As I said, these were good. My only challenge with this style (medium-heavy icing piled high and very light & fluffy cake) is that they’re very difficult to pick up and eat. At best, you end up with icing up your nose, at worst it kind of crumbles in your hands. No worries, if you eat them in-house, it comes in a bowl with a fork and you can dispatch it without too much drama. Finally, I will say that they’ve got a good balance on one of these heavier frostings… very rich, smooth and sweet (sweeter than some of the lighter butter creams some of the competitors use) but not so sweet you think you’re teeth will melt.
