Been going to The Beaver House for years with my family. The serve what is known as a Boarding House menu; which means that they bring bowls of food to your table and refill the bowls on a need be basis. Country food at it’s finest! Fried chicken or Sliced Pork Loin with veggies and sides. Very good!
Good Food and Great Service. I recently visited the Beaver House for the second time with my sorority for our annual spring Date Night. Their staff did such a great job dealing with and entertaining our 100+ group, while efficiently and timely getting out drinks and food, and clearing away dirty dishes. The wait staff was excellent, extremely polite and worked well as a team. The food was good as well. The chicken was a little dry and the biscuits were just a hair over baked, but I am extraordinarily picky about southern cuisine because I come from a very small town deep in Southwest Georgia and a very Southern family who cook southern food that would make Paula Deen jealous. All the other food was up to par, the gravy was excellently savory and thick, the rice cooked in perfectly southern style, the Mac and cheese delicious. All in all, a great place to share a Southern family meal.
We took our son and his girlfriend to The Beaver House for Sunday lunch while visiting GSU. If you like your mashed potatoes out of a box, your veggies out of a can and dry fried chicken then this is the place for you. It doesn’t touch the quality of southern food at The Lady and Sons or Mrs. Wilkes of Savannah or Sybil’s of Jesup, Georgia. I say skip the meal and go straight to dessert because the fudge pie was delicious!
