Warnings. Crazy Ron’s meat and sides are truly a cut-above other BBQ offerings in the Atlanta area and the portions were generous. We arrived an hour or two before closing and the selections from the menu were very limited – as another commenter said, his food is fresh each day so it is ‘slim pickens’ as the day wears on. There were at least a dozen ‘buddies’ hanging around apparently waiting for left-over freebies at closing and causing difficulty getting close enough to read the menu, let-lone place an order. There are a couple of out-door pick-nick tables surrounded by his ‘buddies’ also; so, if you want to eat your meal hot and you have a distance to travel home, I suggest that you pre-plan eating at a near-by park.
Best ever BBQ.. I am 42, and have loved BBQ my entire life. I thaught this place was going to suck, and it turns out that this is one best I have ever had. Better than North Carolina, Memphis, Texas, and Arkansas by far! I usually get the 1/2 slab/chicken combo. They get pissed off when you try to order more ribs than that because the locals want the rib sandwich, and Crazy Ron can not produce ribs on demand. They take atleast 12 hours to prepare, and he makes them fresh daily. He won’t serve leftovers, because he has integrity. If you want a huge order, than you must order them a day before. Now, I recon they call him crazy because you don’t know which personality you are going to get when you eat there. The sauce is so good that you may find yourself sucking and chewing on the rib bones like a dog. Do not listen to the idiot that compares this joint to a McRib Sandwich. I would be happy to bare knuckle box anyone that hates this place, as long as the winner gets a full slab of ribs. The Mac n cheese and cole slaw is awesome too! If you don’t like this place, then you just don’t like BBQ!
One of the best Southern BBQ spots around. Very few barbecue restaurants hold a candle to good roadside barbecue, and this is one of the best around. That being said, I’m a Georgia native, born in Atlanta, and barbecue taste is highly subjective to where you’re from and what you relate to. I’ve been stopping by Ron’s BBQ for years now after hiking at Arabia Mountain in Lithonia and driving back home to Stone Mountain. Ron’s family does a great job, and I feel lucky to have them here.
The best BBQ spot since I’ve been in Atlanta…moved here in 2005 . Worth the drive !!!!
The meat had good flavor. The side were ok. Next time I will request the sauce on the side. They put WAY too much on.
