Long term customer, but will not return…. My wife and I (and now with our 3 young boys) have been customers of O.G. for probably 12 years or so. I used to be a big fan. When we started dining here, the place was under a different ownership. We immediately formed a small ‘bond’ with the owners who remembered us as regulars and we felt welcome and appreciated as customers every time we came in. And the food was the best we could find in the area. Some time ago, maybe 5-6 years ago??, the ownership changed and immediately the attitude surrounding the place changed as well. We never again felt welcome or appreciated. It seemed very much like we were ‘tolerated’ as customers rather than appreciated. Around that time, our boys were small (all in diapers) and we almost felt intimidated when we stopped in for some good Chinese cuisine. Let me be clear that this attitude is not from the servers, most of whom still recognize us and are very cordial. The attitude comes from the owners, managers or folks behind the counter. The food has also regressed a little, although I’ll still say that it’s better than most in the area. But, because of the attitude, our visits became less and less regular. Just yesterday, we decided to stop in for lunch after church. There was a minor incident that reminded me why we no longer frequented the place like we used to, and I will not return again.
Good Sushi, Okay Chinese. As pervious posters have stated, the sushi here is pretty good… not the best in Atlanta, but for Gwinnett it is the best near by. They do have a great selection of rolls, and the Sushi chefs are all very friendly. I miss the days when Michael was behind the sushi bar, but that was about 12 years ago. The Chinese food is hit-or-miss. Sometimes you’ll manage to get a winner, sometimes a dud. The service is also hit or miss. Again, I miss the days when Alice was a server; she always gave excellent service and was very personable. Overall, it’s a good palce, and good sushi for the area, but not the best Atlanta has to offer.
From very good to very bad!. Something is awfully wrong with ‘Orient Garden’. The food we received was terrible. I was very surprised as our past experiences with a variety of dishes were very good and therefore highly recommended to friends, etc.. The chicken and beef tasted old and greasy. The egg drop soup tasted and looked like cooking oil with an almost non-existent egg flavor. No one in our family would eat the soup because it was literally inedible. The vegetables within the entrees were not fresh and were overcooked and brown in places. Such a drop in food quality and taste makes me believe the chef and the management either don’t care about what is being served or their vision and tastebuds are impaired. It’s unfortunate, because the food used to be really good.
All the dishes are great! They even have brown rice! But the sushi is definitely lacking! I have NEVER eaten sushi there that was good. Stick with Chinese dishes
Still the best Chinese in Gwinnett!. I’ve been a customer for over 5 years. Great atmosphere, great service, good prices and good quality food. I cannot not judge their Sushi or Thai items.
Good food bad service and what’s worse, the management does not care about it.
