The food is okay. It certainly wasn’t my favorite restaurant, but if you’re looking for a quick, cheap eatery then this is a great choice for you.
Only Here for the Beer. We took advantage of a ‘Buy One Get One Free’ coupon to try El Matador, as I have driven past it many times, but never felt an overwhelming urge to explore this Mexican restaurant which is caught between the bright lights of QT and Waffle House on Chamblee Tucker. Immediately on entering we were greeted and seated, chips and salsa brought right away. The chips were overcooked and salsa was average. We ordered two of the combos giving us a variety to try, and they were brought quickly to the table. Everything was okay, but nothing to shake a pinata stick at either. I will say that when we finished, both our plates looked as if they had just been cleaned, so the food could not have been bad. The highlight for me was the beer, 32 ounces and served COLD! They definitely have found the best set up for temperature, from first to last sip the beer was perfect. I would go back just for that, which doesn’t say a lot about the food, but that really was a great beer!
