Not Worth Going. The food was horrible. Sauces were not typical of Thai dishes….tasted more like sauces for Chinese food. I ordered Pad Thai with no peanuts and it arrived with peanuts. Then our waitress had the nerve to say that I should ask for no peanuts next time. I reminded her that I did and when our invoice came, it had her handwritten note of no peanuts on the order. She offered to make me a new dish after I reminded her, but we had an appointment and couldn’t wait. The dish also smelled bad and some of the pork tasted old. My companion ordered a shrimp dish but it must have hidden peanuts or beef in it because he got sick and his mouth was tingling after the meal.
Not as good as it used to be – in fact the food was so so last time I went.
Deja Vu?. I feel like I have been here before and had almost the exact same experience as last time… only it was in Dunwoody. Anyway, I came here for lunch. The staff was polite and friendly, but the restaurant itself was freezing cold. Is this a common theme for Thai restaurants?I ordered the Drunken Noodles with chicken, medium spicy, and a spring roll on the side. I could have gone up to a much higher spiciness level, but that’ll be for a future visit. The spring roll was lackluster and tiny. The Drunken Noodles however were good, but not great. It had some decent flavors going on, but failed to impress. Also, some of the noodles were under-cooked which made eating the dish a chore at times. At least the chicken was cooked perfectly.Overall, it’s not the greatest Thai I’ve had, but it is far from the worst (I feel like I’ve said that before… oh right, because I have). The main dish wasn’t bad, and would have been better if all of the noodles were cooked properly. For lunch, this is a decent option in the area. I’d give Yum Yum a try again, but I would probably opt for a curry dish with a side of soup next time… and a space heater.
Update 2: the owner offered me a different entree once she saw that I didn’t eat hardly anything and that I didn’t want a to go box. The Basil Chicken with rice was better, although I’ve never been to a Thai restaurant that served white rice instead of jasmin rice. Probably won’t return.19 Nov, 2012Update: came back for a different lunch special, the Pad Thai. Worst I have EVER had. First, the smell was horrible once the waiter got closer to the table. It acted as bad as it smelled. I didn’t want to eat any of it but ate about 1/4, since I paid for it and was hungry. Service was ok, they f I guess I’ll stick to driving all the way to Cheshire Bridge to Rain Thai.04 May, 2012Had the Massaman curry lunch special. It was rather watery and didn’t have as much flavor as I’ve had at other Thai places. All I could taste were red pepper flakes. There were way too many potatoes in it. I liked the spring roll but I could’ve gotten better sauce for it at the grocery store. I’ll try something else at this place, but not any time soon.
Yum!. The name really says it all- the food here is pretty yummy! I had the mussamun, the BF had the redcurry and we are both full and happy. The owner/waitress was incredibly friendly and nice. As this was our first time going we went with a medium heat to figure out their spice levels. Our waitress told us she would bring us extra spice if we needed it or wanted it. So tasty and well priced! We’ll definitely be back!
Amazing Curries!. We live about a mile from Yum Yum–thank GOD! It looks like a hole in the wall because of the location. But the food is consistantly amazing. My 2 year old LOVES the masaman curry. The panang and the pad thai are also fantastic. The Thai tea ia calorie laden cup of bliss. Go. Eat. Now.
Wonderful, friendly staff and authentic Thai food. Being native to Thailand, it made me feel like my mama was cooking for me.
