You’ll find Yum Yum Thai in the same shopping center as the newly moved Handy Hardware. The food here is solid with fresh ingredients and a good mix of flavors. They’ll also accommodate you if you’re looking for some extra heat. Service is excellent (I’ve only eaten there for lunch). I’m not sure how busy they are for dinner. In any case, it’s nice to have some variation in Tucker, especially on the spicy side. independentrestaurantreview.com
I was pleasantly surprised. The drunken noodles with shrimp, Thai spring rolls and beef flank steak salad were very good. I did not expect Thai food of this quality in Tucker.
Beware! Please Read. First off I love Thai food and I know expertly prepared thai when I taste it, I have sampled thai from coast to coast and north to south including several trips to Thailand. I have always been happy with the food qualityat Yum Yum. However it seems that the owners kids are taking things over, this is where I draw the line. Sure the spring rolls and soup were still good, this is fare that even a novice cook can prepare with impressing results. But any dish with a thai basil sauce requires the skill of a trained thai chef to make it taste just right. I ordered my go to, Their stir fry with basil sauce, when it came to the table I noticed an odd smell, like asian barbecue sauce instead of the mouth watering concoction I am so fond of. This attempt was so amateurish that anyone could have done better at home with no skill, same with the curries. By the owners leaving a less than experienced chef in charge of their restaurant they have spent years building is a recipe for failure. There are too many good thai restaurants in the metro for me to ever give them another chance after this. They should have trained their young protege properly or left a properly thai basil sauce for them to use. Do yourself a favor and steer clear! I hope after reading this the owners take the reigns once again.
