I love this ElToreo! I especially love the cheese dip and birthday celebrations they are famous for. My daughter loves the food here too. So it’s a win win. I have tried others but ElToreo is hands down the best.
Avoid. Avoid. Avoid.. The food here is mediocre or worse and the service we received was only fair. The taste and service alone would not persuade me to return. My biggest complaint, and to me, this is huge: they skimp. We ordered a fairly expensive (for casual Mexican) mixed fajita for two with seafood. The garnish plates they brought were pathetic. There was a teaspoon of guacamole, a teaspoon of sour cream, a dozen lettuce shreds and a few diced tomatoes worth of pico. It was laughable. We weren’t provided side plates to prepare the fajitas, so it was a mess. We ran out of of tortillas. I asked for more. We were charged $1.99 for additional tortillas. Kids meals don’t always include drinks, so it’s no surprise they don’t here. The server was nice, so we were too, but she was not good. She didn’t know what three beers they had on tap (no Mexican beer on tap), so I had to walk to the bar and check. You can do better. Much better.
Best Mexican Restaurant I’ve ever tried. I love El Toreo so much that I crave it. I love coming to this town just to eat at this restaurant. We eat her regularly even though we are out of town. Even though we have had a few excellent waiters, mostly good waiters, and the occasional bad waiter, the food is always terrific and tasty. Since most of our visits are good or really good, our family always chooses to eat there. After eating at both, I believe they are both good but I kind of prefer the newer restaurant over the original one. It seems there overall service has been more consistent of the two. But, either one is a good place to eat at when craving mexican food. I love the Burrito Supreme covered in cheese sauce with extra sour cream. Yum! Yum!
Pros and Cons. El Toreo has pretty good food. At first I thought it was wonderful; loads better than the boring, same old, same old Mexican restaurants I was used to, but the more times I’ve been there the less impressed I am. The food is tasty, there’s no denying that, but, as you can gather from the other reviews, the service is often quite terrible. It’s good if you just want some moderately tasty Mexican food close to the interstate or some Margaritas on the fly, but if you want a truly delicious and authentic meal with great service, this is not where you want to go.
Just as good. Here and rodeo both are good, I’ll go to either one depend on my location.
In the words of Jed Clampett; PITIFUL, JUST. PITIFUL. I got the Seafood Quesadilla… one problem; NO SEAFOOD!It may have had less than 1/4oz. of fake crab meat pieces… no shrimp. In essence it was an overpriced cheese quesadilla! If you want an awesome Seafood Quesadilla, go to Rodeo Mexican Restaurant… Better everything!!!
Average. My husband and I went to El Toreo to fulfill our craving for Mexican cuisine, but we were both very disappointed. The menu is very small, the service was slow and dull, and the environment is boring. We went there around 6PM on a Friday and the restaurant was about 25% full. Needless to say, we will not be returning there.
