Lacking, but tasty food.. The Burger Den has been in operation in the Dalton area for years. The one in Varnell is the older of the two branches. I’m not sure how long this one has been open in Rocky Face. The other day I was driving past and thought I needed to give it a try. Since I ate inside rather than using the window, I think I should give it a full critique. This should be fun:Atmosphere: Well, there isn’t any. No effort whatsoever to leave an impression on the diner in the department of ambience, so unfortunately it earns 0 forksCleanliness: The health score was like a 94, and this would usually earn a restaurant Four Forks, but this is one of those times when what is observed with the eyes dominates the card. The dining area floor was in need of such a mopping. I know this was a combination of a consistent flow of dirty-footed customers leaving tracks and a work force unable to spare one to go mop. Still, it was bad and had a negative impact on me. It gave the establishment an overall dingy feel to it. One fork!Service: Not great, as again they were short-handed. The guy working the counter and the window would run your food out to you. If you wanted a drink, you have to take it to the counter. I don’t want to be too harsh, I feel like he was doing his best. Two forks!!Quality of Food: This is a basic burger place, no bells or whistles. I think they are well-known for basic. I sampled a Double Cheese burger and a hot dog. Nothing great, but not bad either. I must say it hit the spot. Also, the slaw was quite good. I would eat it again. 3.5 Forks!!!Value of Food: I think this is where this establishment shines. I paid $10 for a double cheese burger, a foot long hot dog, tots and a drink. 3.75 forks!!!.Final score: 2.05….wow, this is one of the lowest scores I’ve ever given. Here’s what I think. This is an alright establishment for driving thru the window, but I won’t dine inside again. They need more workers and better management. While I was there I saw one cook and the other guy doing everything else. During my 30 minute experience, I saw them serve ten customers inside and several window customers. Not too bad.
