A pause in your day. I’ve been here twice now. I’m guessing from their outfits (servers), the little store, and their decorations, they try very hard and for that, they get an A+ for effort. The people who work there are very polite. However, like another review, service is somewhat spotty (e.g., you can sit there for a while w/o water or empty tea pots) and they don’t notice the details (like when they’ve taken your knife with the salad but you don’t have it for the rest of the courses). We found we really have to ask for refills, which seems odd to me…in a teahouse? Shouldn’t they be checking to make sure your tea is always full?Soups and salads are good. Selection of tea is good. Sandwiches are good but are not as tasty or gourmet as what I’ve had at other teas. Scones are good, they have strawberry and lemon curd but no devonshire cream. Desserts are gigantic size, certainly not dainty or ‘tea’ sized. Also, they serve ice cream afterwards, which just seems weird to me. I’ve been to many different high teas and have never had ice cream. I would say it’s an interesting touch that doesn’t really make much sense.Bottom line, if you’re looking for a respite, a time to catch up, a pause in your day, their high teas are decent. Certainly not the best service, the best price, or the best food, but it’s all average to above-average and is something worth savoring–a time-out in what could be a busy day!

Fun for groups. The price is a little high, but what isn’t in Kailua? Though I admit the service can be a bit of a roll of the dice, I’ve gone several times with friends and enjoyed it. I was a skeptic myself, but did enjoy it. So, I voted like for this one, though many others seem to disagree.
