First time at Prima. Made reservations and seated on time. GM introduced himself and waited on us. Pasta dishes tasty although a bit salty. First pizza was special of the day. Rather dry. Lacking. Second pizza never arrived even after we told server. Finally GM apologized and said it was sent elsewhere. Many better dinner choices in Kailua. Disappointed.
Nice addition in a strip mall. Prima is located between the FoodLand and Whole Foods in Kailua. The food is interesting, creative and highlights many local ingredients.Highlights: Winter squash salad, pom seeds and ginger. Delicious and refreshing. Anchovy Pizza was fantastic and balanced the salty/fishy/creamy flavors nicely. Loved the octopus and chicken special.Only complaint: The Margarita pizza was undercooked, but the topping was simple and well done.Gelato/Ice cream dessert and anise fritters are delicious.Service was also very sweet and paced out our multi-course and shared-plate dinner perfectly.
After tasting the food and enjoying the great service, I can see clearly him this place can fill up quickly. Best eating out experience since I arrived in Hawaii. Spaghetti was amazing and the spicy meatball was out of this world. The pizza boy from Oregon was awesome and was filled with information, answering all of our questions. this place and recommend this restaurant
By far the tastiest and most inventive food on the island. Their grilled octopus with mountain apple was over the top. If this establishment was in New York you would have to book weeks in advance. Five stars all the way!
Didn’t care for the food. The beet salad tasted like they were pickled which took away from the natural sweetness of the beats. To top things off my friend asked if they would serve her one of the 3 assorted sorbet flavors and the waiter said he didn’t think it was a problem & later came back & said they weren’t able to serve just one flavor. When we got the bill the waiter forgot top take it off the bill.
Loved it!. We didn’t order the small plates, we ordered a pizza and a pasta for two adults and a toddler. We both eat a lot, and we were full with left overs. So we did not have the same experience as the first person. The portions and prices are like CPK, but waaaay better. Fresh ingredients, innovative (curry pasta with crispy basil leaves? Yum), cool vibe, I felt like I was in San Fran. Service was awesome and loved the decor. Perfect place for a foodie.
Uniformly excellent. Likely the best brussels sprouts anywhere, and the pizza was worth the (too long) wait.
