Up in the mountain comes a little restaurant that seats around 40 with reasonably priced food and tastes good to. It is worth the stop to picnic outside amongst a robust flock of chickens and to walk through the free museum next door. (Go ahead a leave a donation).
Kokee Adds Life. Who cares about the little shack of a restaurant with all the beauty that surrounds you here. Grab a sandwich or other nondescript munchie and get outside. This is not the place to labor over descriptions of picnic food. Eat half your sandwich and give the rest to the ever present chickens that are always looking for a handout.Then, get a frisbee and go romp in the huge field that is part of the Lodge environs. Or continue on your journey up into the mountains for some spectacular views of the Na’pali Coast. The photo opportunities will exhaust the largest of memory cards!
Go through the squeaky screen door…. As you wend your way around the western edge of Kauai, look for this rustic outpost. It’s part of a lodge complex that includes a few cabins and a quaint museum. The food is sandwiches and simple plate lunches — nothing fancy and nothing that great but it’s predictable and there isn’t much out this way. A caution — chips are self-serve. Pick the Lays; they’re about 2 dollars cheaper than the Maui chips. The service is surly but quick.
