By far my favorite restaurant in Kona. The service is excellent. Breakfast buffet is fresh and delicious with many options to choose from. The restaurant sits inside of The King Kamehameha Marriott hotel with a beautiful beach view. My last dinner there was from a seafood buffet that had eveything you can thhink of crab legs, shrimp, sushi, clam chowder, mussels….I would highly recommend Honu’s !
The Prime Rib and Seafood buffet was full of mediocre dishes at best. The Mahi was good and the snow crab legs were decent, but most of the rest was boring and lackluster. The prime rib was just OK, while served with a perfect au jus that propped it up immensely. Thankfully we bought a gift certificate at only $60 for two, vs. the $100 normally charge. Still dropped $100 with drinks and tip. A stark contrast to the excellent Sunday Brunch buffet at the Manta Pavilion.
Honu’s is at the top of the pier on the beach in the King Kamehameha’s Hotel (Courtyard Marriott). Great view, 3 hour parking validation from the restaurant. I had the Wild Seared Ahi with a Maki roll for my entree and it was delicious. Generously sized as well. ($28). The Wedge salad was huge ($10) with a feta dressing and an avocado done tempura-style, which although not listed that way (I’m on a diet) was a delicious surprise. The children’s meals are crazy cheap for better dining – range from $4-6. My children had the house made pasta and it smelled really good. We tried the lava cake at dessert and it was good as well. Service was very attentive and friendly. Will definitely go back.
Seafood and Prime Rib Buffet is a must!!. The Friday/Sat night seafood and prime rib buffet for $34.95 is a great value. They have everything you could want…from sushi and shrimp to clam chowder and all you can eat crab legs. The dessert table was extensive as well. This is the best value we found on the Big Island. Also…if you are a guest of King Kam, you can get 20% off.
