Got to be my favorite spot to watch the sunset in Kona. Order dip style nachos and a Mai Tai (or two). As a a kama’aina it might be a slice of Waikiki in Kona but it is worth the visit. Has a feel of House Without a Key.
One of the best hidden restaurants in town. Sure to have a traditional Maitai and calimari. They will be the best you have ever tasted. As for Bert or Bill for your waitstaff
Go for the Fish. We went to Kona Inn for dinner, had sashimi and poke for appetizers (the poke was not as good as the Poke Shack, but then whose is?). I had the Ono and my husband had the Macadamia Nut Stuffed Mahi Mahi. We both enjoyed our dinners very much. I loved my macadamia nut ice cream ! Service was a little slow, but friendly. We would go back.
What an amazing atmosphere. Sitting in open air patio and watching waves crash along the shore. My wife and I had the fish and chips and the coconut shrimp…then finished it off with the mud pie…delicious Kona coffee ice cream.
Perfect end to our vacation…. AFTER…you’re blown away by the world record fish in the foyer, after you’re blown away by the view, after you’re blown away by the Koa Wood, after you’re blown away by the great service (ask for Charles), and after you’re literally blown away by the paddle fans…Try the Baked Monchong. You’ll be blown away again. And at the end of a two-week vacation on Maui and the Big Island, our last two nights were spent at the Kona Inn adding wonderful mana to our Hawaiian vacation. Aloha.
Great Mai Tai’s. Best Mai Tai in town. Love them!
Too much money for average food. Love the view but that’s about it.
