Singapore noodles were off the chart. Shrimp fried rice and lemon chicken also great. The wait staff was very nice and despite the other user review of this restaurant I was not worried about cleanliness. I would count this restaurant one of my top five Chinese food spots. If I lived on the island I would eat here often.
It’s a joint. I have a special place in my heart for chop suey houses. To me, they are part of the mystique of Hawaii. The Plate lunch kind of place has overtaken their niche to a large degree and kind of left them out in the cold. There is a sort of mini resurgence now of 21st century chop suey joints, and they are not the same. Too sterile. too much stainless steel. too much like plate lunch joints with tables. This place is far from sterile. In fact, you might even find it worrisome. But I’ve never gotten sick from the food. And they have duck. Duck! that’s nice. It isn’t tea smoked duck, and as barbecue it is not as great as Ranch 99 in California. But it is recognizable as duck. The overall feel of the place tends to make me shy away, but sometimes their take out finds its way to my house, and it is always enjoyable there.
