Inconsistent food overall- breakfast sandwiches are sometimes good. Most pastries look better than they taste. Have a good early bird special in morning.
The best!. I eat at short and sweet all the time. Between the great family-style staff, amazing desserts, ono-ono quiches & breakfast sandwiches NOT TO MENTION happy hour in the afternoon, I can not rate this Hilo gem high enough. And, I’ve never even tasted their award winning cakes, which I have heard are internationally recognized. Definitely someplace to visit when you come through Hilo.
Overpriced and RUDE!. The overpriced cake that I bought tasted old and was extremely dry. For $30, you’d think a professional bakery could produce a decent cake but this Almond Joy cake was inedible. When we brought it to the owner’s attention, she was defensive, condescending and rude. I have bought many of their pastry items and have thought them all mediocre, especially when you factor in the prices. Better off at Safeway-sadly!

Nice place, but they need to provide a restroom if they want folks to hang out and eat there.
