Avoid this place for sure!!. The sushi is horrible and falls apart in your hand, the service is poor and the freshness of the food questionable. I dont suggest eating there at all but especially if they have been closed for a few days, i made that mistake and felt ill an hour afterwards. Mom and Pop need to retire.
Great Little Place. A tiny spot tucked into Furneaux Lane near the Farmer’s Market, this is one of the most authentic and innovative sushi bars on the Big Island. It is run by a friendly Japanese husband and wife, it includes only three tables, and may or may not be open when you arrive. The place is really worth your patience. A good variety of fishes, creative rolls and sauces, and each piece done to perfection. Sushi fans – don’t miss Sushi Bar Hime.
Most authentic and innovative sushi in town. Sushi Bar Hime offers the most authentic and innovative sushi in Hilo, if not the Island of Hawai`i. The restaurant’s owners and operators, husband and wife, are originally from Japan and most recently from Maui, where they owned a restaurant before moving to Hilo. Maui’s loss is Hilo’s gain, as Sushi Bar Hime is a small (perhaps 8 seats), yet quaint little shop, where you feel spoiled by the sushi chef’s focus on what you’ve ordered and the attention of the server, who is the sushi chef’s wife. This is accentuated by the fact that the focus here is on sushi – a sign on the door clearly states that they serve nothing but sushi. My personal favorites are the Pink Lady and the Shrimp and Scallop Dynamite Doria.
A nice little sushi shop in downtown hilo. Only seats 10. The sushi was fresh and delicious. I highly recommend eating here. Cash only.
