Don’t Miss It. On your trip up to Akaka Falls (not to be missed) you go right through the little town of Honomu. Like us you might just drive right through town heading to the falls as your destination. But like us, we hope the charm of the town encourages you to stop and check it out on your way back to the highway. It was just about lunch time when we stopped in Honomu. After checking out the shops, we ended up in the Woodshop Gallery looking as some of the most impressive wood carvings we saw on the island. Then we noticed the adjoining cafe. After talking to a couple of locals about the cafe, we were encouraged to try it out. What a great place. Small, rustic and with a ton of charm. On the recommendation of the folks we stopped to talk to, we ordered the ahi burger and an ahi wrap. Both were excellent. The ahi burger was so hot when it was served to us that we had to wait for it to cool a bit before we could eat it! Very, very good. The wrap is served cold and it too was terrific. Lots of folks were taking out ice cream and other great looking sandwiches. Do yourself a favor and give this place a try, we don’t think you will be disappointed.
