Akoni’s Bar & Grill *****. The owners and staff are friendly. They always come up with theme nights on Fridays. Many times there’s live local music and their food completes the evening. My favorite dishes are the Crispy Pork Chops, Traditional Sashimi, and Rib Eye Steak I go there whenever I can. See you there!.

Great Local Bar to hang out at!!. I visited Akonis a few days ago. It was a very great crowd with great workers. They were all very helpful and catering to our table. They took the time to get to know us and even as busy as it was they made sure that we were well taken care of. While we were there we made sure that we tried alot from the menu…the food was so ono. The crispy garlic shrimp was really good, fried with a batter and it had a sauce on it that was to die for. We also tried the crab cakes, It was real crab meat with a potato crust on the top of it. That was just really good. Someone commented that it wasnt good, I don’t believe that they had the same thing as I did. I would strongly recommend that. We also had the fried noodles that had bacon in it, also very good. We also had the lomi ahi that was different from the poke that you would get at any other bar, you could tell that It was fresh not frozen and it was made perfectly. I will definetly be going back there soon, good food, good people and great place to hang out at!!!

I visited Akonis on a Saturday night and it was packed with people. There was live local music, not too loud just right. Seemed like a fun atmosphere with great service. The food was excellent and unlike any other bar in Kalihi. More upscale bar food like crabcakes, ribeye steak and garlic shrimp and the furukake soybeans and the poke were to die for. Exactly the type of place you go when you need to unwind. Safe, good food, friendly service and caters to the locals. I will definetly be going back soon.

Went there to try the menu. Ordered fried chicken wings, Korean style poke, crab won tons, crispy garlic shrimp, and the potato crusted crabcake. Fried chicken wings-fried perfectly, crispy skin, juicy meat, nice salty seasoning-very good standard fried chicken wings. Korean style poke-wanted to see what Korean style was. Think we got Traditional style but they insisted it was Korean style. Pretty good Hawaiian style poke-round onions, sesame seeds, sesame oil, lots of Hawaiian salt. Crab won tons-pretty much standard party fare. Imitation crab filling, fried good. LIttle tight with the sweet chili sauce for dipping, could have used more. Crispy garlic shrimp-very light batter with a garlic aioli that had a slight kick. Fried with the shells on so if you don’t like eating shrimp shells, you will lose most of the flavor and crispy texture when you peel these. More an essence of garlic than chopped up bits. Pretty good; wont really find anything like this anywhere else. Potato crusted crabcake-wow….. Soggy, greasy, served on an upside down bowl on aioli. Very large shredded potato crust. Not fried well at all. Potato crust was so oily, it rendered this dish inedible. Crust also prevented the crabcake itself from being fried. It is a very large crabcake with lots of real canned crab but the execution was terrible. Suprising since all the other fried items were fried so good.
