Soda tasted like dish soap. The potatoes were the terrible box powder kind. The brisket was fatty and undercooked. The chicken was dry, fatty and basically coated in chili powder and not much else. My wife’s burger had bits of gristle and bone in it. The Mac salad was good. That’s pretty much it.
I had the sauted Ono with the butter caper and it was not bad. The best part, although, was the hot and fresh biscuits being passed out around the restaurant. Pretty good overall fo a nice meal.
Honest Diner. Want haute cuisine? Go someplace else. Ditto artful plate presentations, hovering waiters or Waldorf service when the kitchen is trying to shift from breakfast to lunch. But for tasty, abundant and affordable grub, this is the place. We had carnivore urges so had their prime rib for two for around $38; tasty, satisfying and required two doggie bags later. We used to have one of these family diners within a couple of blocks of every residential neighborhood; you have to drive to this one, but it’s worth it.
Love the biscuits! Great alternative to Zippy’s or Kenny’s.
