After recommendations from family that live in Hawai’i, we decided to stop by Tamashiro for their poke. The market itself is tucked on a tight corner with precarious parking; there is not much parking available, so circling a time or two may be needed in order for a space to open up. Tamashiro has an array of items for sale: groceries, live seafood products, frozen food, Asian products (predominantly Japanese), and of course, poke! The latter is what makes this market in my opinion! They have several varieties of poke, and they offer free samples of the poke if you request it. We tried the Spicy Tuna, Ahi Chili Poke, Ahi Green Onion Poke, Korean Style Mussel Poke, Our favorite was the Ahi Tuna Poke! It was incredibly fresh, melted in our mouth, and had great flavors. The only thing we disliked was the Opihi, and looking back at the pictures, it may not have been that fresh to start out with. Sooo not sure about the Opihi, but definitely stick with the Ahi!
