If you visit the island of Oahu you MUST go to the North Shore and eat at Giovanni’s. It’s a food truck on the side of the road and doesn’t look like much from the road but you will be pleasantly surprised. They have several hits that you can order from. After getting all your scrumptious food you will sit under a wooden pavilion with picnic tables. I recommend the shrimp and also get an ear of the roasted corn on the cob. My mouth is watering just thinking about it.
One of two locations for the amazing shrimp platters at Giovanni’s Shrimp Truck. A choice of shrimp covered in three varieties of sauces. Shrimp Scampy, Lemon Butter and Hot and Spicy. Considering on the menu there’s a warning that there will be NO refunds for the hot and spicy that’s a clear indication that I needed to stay away from that variety.The shrimp scampi (and the soft and moist rice) was generously slathered with a strong flavourful garlic sauce. There is no way to get away from this dish clean as you have to peel the shrimp to enjoy the succulent meat within. But the sauce is so finger licking good, you really don’t mind. Note, there’s no where in this food truck market to wash your hands (I luckily had a water bottle with me).This truck was really hyped up for me and it didn’t disappoint. For $13 I got a plateful of food with basically no wait, they handed the dish to me almost immediately after I ordered.
