My friend I were both starving after our flight from Denver. We wanted to eat that we had a hard time moving before heading to the food store and our hotel. It was the best decision ever. The food is fresh, melts in your mouth and makes you want more. We were both so stuffed that we had a hard time moving when we left. I had the NY steak and my husband had the fish. They both were very tasty. The only negative was the wait was over a half hour. It did not disappoint.
Da Kitchen is a must try if you’re at Maui! It’s near the Kahului airport. They are so popular and be prepared to wait for 20-30 min for a table as they don’t take reservation. The service is great. The wait staff will take your name and mobile number when you walk in. You will receive two text when your table is ready. The food serving here is large and very delicious. We had Ahi Poke Bowl and Fried Spam Musubi for lunch. My house made iced tea is quite watered down though. The have good variety of menu from traditional Hawaiian food with a twist to Japanese katsu don. We were so impressed that we returned for dinner the same day and had Hawaiian Plate and Kalbi Ribs!
The katsu moco was good, the shoyu ginger opakapaka was okay, and the spam musibi was pretty disappointing. Overall, the service, food, and experience was average.
Just landed and LUCKED into this place. Go. It’s excellent. Especially the fish and the kailui pork. Really a great way to start off your visit to Maui.
Had the lau lau plate. Always ono. Each time my family and I come to Maui it’s one of our first stops. The staff is always friendly at both the Kahului or Kihei restaurants.
This was given to us on a recommendation. Absolutely fabulous. We started with the Fried Spam Musubi. That was was a fantastic start. We also had the Da Kine Moco and the Hawaiian plate. We knew it would be way too much food but it was worth every penny. Wait staff was awesome.
Visiting Maui every so often yields some great new finds every time. DaKitchen cafe is no exception. Situated in a small strip mall where board shorts and car dealerships live.A true Hawaiian experience is here. Starting with poi (an acquired taste), chicken katsu, and lemonade. There is a BYOB rule in effect, so feel free to bring that craft beer you scored at Whole Foods!
