Heard of this cafe and had to go. It is a perfect place to grab a quick bite if your on the go or if you want to sit down and people watch. I’ve gone twice during my trip to Kauai. Both times ordered the ahi cilantro wrap. It is very filling and delicious. I really enjoy the vibe this places gives off. Very aloha.
Had the #12 peanut satay . The portion was huge and the sauce complimentary to the fresh veggies I think the very brisk business proves the locals have found this gem.I parked at the local park 200 ft north.
This is the first place that I really would say is worth going back to eat. The food was fresh. I had the thai iced tea with coconut milk, it was good but too rich to finish. I’ll try the lemongrass tea next time. I ordered the noodle stir fry with tofu, they gave me chicken but really didn’t matter I ate the entire thing it was delicious. We also ordered the chicken tacos which came with a small salad and black beans. Really so good I can’t say enough about it. Food took a little long but the lady warned us saying that it took a little longer to cook. Which we didn’t mind.
Tasteless. The food was big and well prepared but tasteless. Had peanut satay wrap with ahi. Very bland when I expected some kick. At almost $ 20 (including a drink), the meal was just NOT worth it. Just a wrap, not rocket science. I would expect to pay $ 12 – 15 with a drink elsewhere and enjoy myself. Quite surprised given the ratings here from others.
Ariel’s got nothin on this little Mermaid!. Heard a lot of buzz about this place and was excited to check it out. At first I was taken aback a bit as the 2 guys running it looked like they were 16 year old skateboarders, but those feelings were soon squashed as they delivered some amazing wraps and tacos. Great little takeout spot and highly recommended!!
Great tuna and greens. Totally worth a try, though the tea they have is kind of strong. Great experience all in all.
My best vacation meal. Mermaids Cafe is a hole in the wall with excellent food. My husband and I both loved the seared ahi wrap. After a week of eating out on Kauai at a mix of casual and fine-dining venues, my lunch at Mermaids Cafe was the most memorable and the most delicious.
