Ramen burger is amazing. So are the beef croquettes- which are fried potato cakes. We got delicious sesame dressing and seaweed rice. Perfect place for unique, yet not too weird food. It’s delicious and reasonable with byob for alcohol! Probably as authentic as you can get. They also have cute local authentic Hawaiian crafts and toys in a little gift shopping wall.
This casual restaurant is fantastic. The quirky decor, friendly staff and relaxed environment make it a perfect place to grab a quick bite. And the food is seriously good. I’d come back again.
The service was very quick and the staff was friendly. They have a huge selection of dishes to try, but if you happen to stop by you ABSOLUTELY HAVE to try their teriyaki ramen burgers! One of the best I have every had! Since it was teriyaki, I was expecting something sweet. To my surprise, it was perfect. I keep going back for more!
Loved the food here. It may have been served in takeaway containers, but it was all super fresh, tasty & organic. Looks to be a family run place so they serve with Aloha. The sweet potatoe fritters were yum as was my stir fry vegetables. Generous serves & not hard on the wallet either! Oh & we thought the interior to be rather rustic & original, lots of old bric a brac & an impressive chandalier!
Great Japanese style food at great prices!. This little place is a bit out of the way for me, and nearby street parking can be hard to find (there are only 3 parking stalls on the side of the building). But I make the effort to drive out there about 3 times a week because the food and prices are great. Most dishes are priced at $6.00 to $7.00 (and that already includes tax!), and the portions are generous. The ingredients seem to be of high quality (decent lean cuts of meat with very little, if any, fat or gristle). The service may be somewhat slow, especially during busy periods, but they cook everything fresh, and the food is definitely worth the wait. I’ve never waited more than 15-20 minutes at the most. The decor is a little strange, and may make this place look unappealing to some who pass by, but I think those who take a chance on it will be pleased that they did.
Fantastic Japanese food, great prices!. After nearly a week of overpriced, touristy restaurants in Waikiki, we finally found this place near the end of our vacation. The staff at Pioneer Saloon served up the yummiest salmon katsu ever, with delicious rice on the side, for only $6. My husband also gave high marks to the teriyaki chicken, which he said was probably the best he’d ever had. Sure the decor is a little strange, but the food is great!
