We ordered the S.O.S (similar to a seafood bisque with crab meat, lobster meat, mussels, prawns and scallops) and the roasted beef salad. The S.O.S was delightful, the soup base was creamy and buttery, it really made the seafood nice and tender and gave it great flavour. The scallops were wobbling on the plate and simply melt in the mouth good! The roasted very salad however was a bit of a let down, it was dressed sparingly and could’ve used more walnuts & goats cheese and less croutons. Overall it was an enjoyable dinner but we should have probably ordered a seafood, steak or pasta instead of the salad. Portions here are also very generous! We struggled to finish our meals.
We were looking for a good local fish place. It did not have much road appeal and we considered not stopping. However, the service was awesome, lots of food, and the fish was excellent. No one in our party of 6 were disappointed or hungry afterwards.
A bit disappointed at Uncle Bo’s as it was recommended by a local and other reviews. The fried rice was below average, no where near as good as Old Street Inn. The sashimi came without any soy sauce or wasabi. Prime rib was large, but wasn’t that tasty, nor were the sides that came with it. The Poca Roca was the highlight of the meal… And that says a lot
It really makes me made when places change a classic dish like clam chowder – bacon does not go I clam chowder. Certainly having a waitress serving it to me once I notify her that I’m a pescatarian… I didn’t eat the chowder but I could see from playing with it while waiting on my rude waitress that there is barely clam in it… It’s basically bacon and potato soup. The bacon looked undercooked and disgusting too. My husband, who doesn’t have dietary restrictions, ordered the pork nachos. Biggest issue is that he had a very hard time finding the pork…come to find, they put the 1oz of pork on the plate under the nachos… In picture… Yup no pork on top of the chips at all… And barely any pork at all. Calamari was extremely overcooked and chewy… Service was crap..: will not recommend nor return.
A great local place to eat with friends! The calamari is a must and the fish dishes are amazing!! Try the HOBO dessert!! You’ll love me for it!!
Lovely anniversary dinner at Uncle Bo’s. Definitely don’t judge a book by its cover with this one – don’t let the exterior fool you as the interior is lovely. Loved the Dynamite Shrimp – would happily have eaten another plate of it. The walnut shrimp lettuce cups were also amazing. If you still have room give the 6 Little Piggies a go as well. All in all a lovely delicious night out.
Visited Uncle Bo’s last night based on several positive reviews, we made a booking via email and they confirmed promptlyI will go with the bad first, the BREAD, All the terrific juices and sauces that accompany the food deserve better than sugar laden dough! Other than that….. Great, go to Uncle Bo’s for all that the place offersAwesome food and service, we will be going back before returning to OzLoved Uncle Bo’s
