Inexpensive but cheap food. Grill fish sandwich was bland-no grill marks, just heated- crab cakes were mushy and made from imitation crab. Won’t try again. Too much good food on this island to waste my time and money here.
Very fresh, but greasy. Fish sandwich was great with grilled fresh fish. Inexpensive option in Waikoloa. Friendly and fast and great views by the lake.
Nothing fancy… Just a walk up counter for fish and chips and grilled sandwiches, etc. but the sandwich was tasty (with an above average tomato!!!). Good for a low key, less expensive meal.
Great Food at a Great Price. We stopped at Island Fish & Chips for a quick dinner after photographing the sunset at nearby Anaeho’omalu Beach (blog.tlinn.com/2012/02/anaehoomalu-beach). Little walk up eateries like this one are a godsend if you are on any kind of a budget at all. The food was excellent, portions were generous, and the outdoor-only seating faced a scenic pond. If we had stayed in the area another day we would have definitely come back.
Best thing out of whole menu is fish sandwich. Tomatoes were soggy and if you just get plain fish it gross and disgusting. Even the presentation was terrible white fish with a scoop of white rice and white coleslaw. All white and completely uneddible.
Liked it a lot. Wasn’t expecting much and was pleasantly surprised. Fish was cooked perfectly in a light batter and the generic looking fries were very good (especially with the hot chile infused vinagar). Pineapple cole slaw was a nice finish for a quick and good dining experience.
GREAT FISH – GOOD PRICES. We have been frequenting Island Fish for 8 years, They serve fresh fish, caught that day, dipped in a great batter and deep fried to order. So, you are eating fresh local fish. I consider that price good given the cost of all the other restaurants in the resort area. Look for the stand on the back side of the King Shops. You order at the counter and eat at outdoor tables overlooking the lake. Good fish…. Good prices
