Tried this restaurant because of the rating and pics of delicious plates. Big place, we were seated quickly and friendly waiter took our drink order of Lava Flows which were excellent. We had the Brie Won Ton for the pupus, really good. Ordered the Kona Style Chicken wings which were huge. Kona Style must stand for undercooked, to the point we couldn’t eat them. Waiter apologized and didn’t charge us. I had Sam’s Trio of Fish which I was excited about. Sadly the fish was dry and over cooked. The mushroom cream sauce with pineapple / papaya marmalade was excellent. For dessert we had the Award Winning Flourless Chocolate Cake w/Vanilla Ice Cream and the Bread Pudding. Both were really good. Drinks, Won Tons, desserts, and service were very good however undercooked chicken wings are a health issue and over cooked fish doesn’t cut it.
The view was fantastic and the wait staff was very nice. Service was a bit too slow. They took our order for an appetizer but we never got it. Pricing was a bit high for what you got.
We had the poke which was quite delicious and the Kona orange duck. The sauce with the duck had so much honey in it that it hardened immediately into a taffy-like substance and stuck to the plate/fork/my teeth and anything else it came into contact with. Also, the duck was overdone. Soooo…I don’t recommend the duck.
You would think that a restaurant with Sam Choy’s name would be fantastic. Unfortunately this isn’t. Service was poor and food was okay. We ordered the 3 fishes and it was tremendously dry to the point that it wasn’t edible. The short-ribs are very good and definitely are recommended. The dessert was good, but using a non-dairy whipped topping versus real whipped cream?? Seriously? This isn’t Denny’s.
Beautiful View!!! Marginal food…. Poor service… A more detailed menu would have made ordering easier. Wish we had spent our last dinner somewhere else. 🙁
Poor Service and Bad management. L&L Has better food and Service ..This Restaurant is Ruining Sams Good Name…Cooks are Fighting and Servers don’t want to serve..Management cant Manage
Sparking. Too much hype. Little or no service detail. Nice spot overlooking the sea
