Wonderful atmosphere and outstanding service. Menu is limited with somewhat exotic items, so if you are looking for something more ordinary this is not the place. This is the place for extraordinary cuisine. The butchers flat iron stake was delicious with various Thai spices, perfectly prepared. Side and starters limited and pricey. For a romantic evening out, this should be on your list. Save time to tour the grounds of the resort.
Food was creative and well prepared. Christina was very friendly and welcoming. She knew the menu well, and helped us make some delicious choices. The portion size varies from dish to dish in a way that requires some insider knowledge. The palm and beet salad was a delightful mix of favors and textures (and reasonably sized). The breadfruit risotto was fun but might have been an amuse bouche elsewhere. Christina brought us an anniversary present of a cardamon ice cream – mocha – spice cake and sesame crisp that was delicious. The service was very good.
There aren’t enough words to describe how special and spectacular this place is. I still can’t decide if the food or the view was more stunning.
Having been to Humu every year for the past 10 years I can say it is one of my favorite restaurants on the island. The restaurant itself is very unique and the sunsets always make for an amazing view. The fish is always superb, I get the ahi dish every time I go and it is always fantastic (I must admit I am a sucker for any kind of ahi but it is always great here). I have had the mahi mahi too and it is great as well. The desserts are amazing, especially the Humu pie, if you are only ordering one dessert make sure it’s the pie. Our waiter, Ken, was extremely knowledgeable and a great guy to talk with. Overall 4.5/5, only reason it’s not a 5 is because the portions are a bit small for my liking, and they removed the fish tank at the bar area which I always thought added a very cool and unique feel to the restaurant. Humu is a must go if you’re in the Wailea area!
Poor service and mediocre food. At one and a half hoursI had received cold king Hawaiian rolls, my 4 (under cooked) micro dumplings, and my underwhelming watermelon salad…no entrees yet. Our waiter just keeps walking past the table, no refilling our drinks. This is sad to spend so much on a very subpar dining experience at a 5star hotel. The main dish just showed up, the fish smells not so fresh!
Lovely atmosphere and food!. From the moment I entered humuhumunukanukaapua’a after a day of swimming at the beach and grand wailed pool, I knew it was going to be a great night. It was well lit and had a great island atmosphere. The big saltwater tank certainly may have helped. For starters I had the pinenut chicken dumplings. They were nice but ,as I found out, I don’t like pinenuts. For mains ( or entrees as yanks call them ) I ordered the Korean style fried chicken. I thought the price quite extravagant for a piece of chicken. When it arrived I just stared: it was an entire chicken. I didn’t think I’d be able t finish all of it. It was a lovely crunch on the out side and was well cooked on the inside. It was quite spicy but I like it that way. Somehow I managed to eat the entire meal. It was delicious!
Service not great. Food ok… But should be for the price. Drinks tasted cheap. The only plus was the Cool atmosphere. Not a destination.
