Best Sushi Ever. We are sushi lovers, and this was the best sushi we have had thus far. We had the Sushimi Combo, Salmon Skin Roll, Salmon Sashimi, Ekura, Eel Roll, Rainbow Roll and Tamago. All was simply superb. Saki was good as well as a generous pour. Make reservations far in advance and enjoy the best sushi you will have ever tasted.

There used to be a place in my hometown that served fresh, traditional sushi. I’m into mirugai, abalone, good toro, ankimo and anago. I would not have guessed I got to experience all if this in Maui. Chef Hiro’s work was excellent! Prices were extremely reasonable, sushi was fresh and the sashimi on the nigri was huge! I like the fact he didn’t put a ton of rice on nigri. We were lucky to get a reservation 2 days before. Miso soup was more $ than anywhere I’ve had but It was sooo good with lotsa stuff in it. There’s no menu except for what’s written on the white board. But we basically had almost all the nigiri on there. We spent $125 for 2 people and was totally worth it. We went to another sushi restaurant the night before at Sansai down the same street and spent the same amount for worst food:( Wanted to go there one more time but it was the end of our trip:(

Beyond amazing sushi. Did not know was fresh sushi really was until eating here. The chef was so nice and friendly. Ended up being $80 for two of us (not huge eaters). Will definitely come back again!!

Mouth Watering Sushi!. 11/10 Stars!!!This was by far the best sushi we have ever had, and we thought we’ve had some good sushi before! The master sushi chef makes everything right in front of you, it was like watching art. We sat at the bar and it felt like a personal dining experience. We ordered the california roll, extra spicy tuna roll and then left the rest up to the chef! He provided us with an assortment of sashimi and sushi. It was absolutely the freshest, natural sushi we have ever had.Coming from Canada, we thought the price was extremely reasonable, less than $100 so we left a good tip! I would highly recommend this sushi place to anyone!

Overall great. This place is pricey, perhaps even pverpriced, but then again it was one of the best sushi experiences we’ve ever had. Hiro-san is friendly, chatty, hard-working, and accurate in all ways. Some of the patrons were annoyingly theatrical, but other than that it was a great experience.

Hiro is my Hero!. I have had a lot of great sushi both in Hawaii and in the 48, but Koiso is the best I have ever eaten. When people ask what my favorite part of our trip to Maui was, I tell them it was the food at Koiso. My husband, who is a casual sushi eater, and I started with some of the suggested rolls for the day but soon had Hiro making custom handrolls for us that were FANTASTIC! The assortment was great but I cannot convey how fresh everything was. And those puny, fake crab sticks that most people use? Not at Koiso! My crab handroll was 100% King Crab and worth the cost.I was shocked that the bill was not more when we received it (less than $100). We spend more than that eating around Atlanta.Believe the reviews; this is not a hyped up place. Hiro and Koiso are the real deal!

This place is great. I read all of the reviews that mentioned how expensive it is… Honestly, it is not any more expensive than the great places in any big us city like Atlanta or NY. The fish however is awesome!! Hiro does a fantastic job and you will enjoy yourself! Most nigiri is about $7.50 and a great Cali roll is $9. The most expensive nigiri was the live abalone at $12. The rainbow roll is $15 and the sushi combo is $28. We did the omekase and it was fantastic. We added a California roll for good measure… Real crab and absolutely yummy. Hiro’s tamago is fresh and homemade. You HAVE to have a reservation. They only have a license for 16 people and that includes the two of them! It is a sushi bar and ONE table for 4. Very intimate! Don’t hesitate… Go. Sansei is good but a totally different experience. Much more fusion in that one than in koiso. Koiso reminds me of the awesome sushi places in Japan! Go, you’ll love it.
