We loved it. Upscale casual eatery, we enjoyed a beautiful shaded patio overlooking the bay. Gorgeous. The best dish was bulgogi pork tacos, but the cheeseburger, fish and chips, and mahi sandwich were good. Half price appetizers and pizzas for happy hour were awesome and very delicious. We had the kalua pork and pineapple pizza and 2 bowls of corn chowder. Great dinner, friendly service. We might be back on this trip!!!! Really hit the spot.
An excellent place to visit especially during Happy Hour. After a day at Big Beach, we were hungry and good food and cold drinks were calling to us. Monkeypod was just the place. The 1/2 price appys, $10 wood fired pizzas, and $5 draft beers at Happy Hour are a great deal. Mmmm Maui Bikini Blonde lager! We ordered a medley of dishes including Shrimp Potstickers and Wild Mushroom Pizza and the Coconut Milk Corn Chowder stood out as my favourite. Service was top notch.
the service was probably the best we had on our vacation in maui. The ahi tuna sandwich was great and the Monkeypod Mia Tia was Delicious. Great open air restaurant.
If you ever want to see a live example of absolute A grade customer service to accompany a plethora of quality food options, take a flight to Maui and hit up Monkeypod. This place was vibrant and was full of atmosphere from the word go, and was a highlight of our trip. We were lucky to be hosted by the incredible Shay who – this lady was loaded with personality, a big smile, endless food knowledge (oh and cannot forget the jokes!) Give her a pay rise guys – those types of people make a restaurant. Pizzas are amazing – light base and confidently presented with minimal toppings, tacos were beautiful and the Mocha Cheesecake dessert was an incredible way to top off the night. What an experience – might even be back this trip!
My friend and I took a long walk to Monkeypod Kitchen. The menu offers a variety of options. I had the pork tacos and my wife had the fish(mahi-mahi) tacos. There are 3 tacos with these entrees. Both had excellent flavor. The wait staff was great and kept the water glasses full since we were a bit dehydrated after our travels. The Restaurant Week dinner looked wonderful but this was a short trip and we didn’t make it back before we left Maui. I would strongly recommend this restaurant.
This place is Legit! Food was amazing and wait staff was friendly. A tip is make a reservation and go early to take advantage of the happy hour specials!
Dined here twice while staying in Maui, and I would highly recommend Monkeypod to those staying around the Kihei area. If you’re okay with paying extra, you’ll afford yourself a pleasant dining experience enhanced by occasinal live music, a pleasant ambiance, and friendly but efficent service. The drink menu is well thought-out with something for everyone; ranging from fruity island-inspired to reimagined classics with a tropical flare. I would recommed eating around the early evening time frame to beat the crowds and take advantage of happy hour (both for appetizers and adult beverages). Parking can also be difficult after 5pm. Their food could be considered by some to be a touch salty, but the grilled ahi, poke tacos, fish tacos, and noodles saiten, were all delicous. You couldn’t go wrong with any of the mixed drinks.
