Wait, am I still in a 5-star hotel? OMG, the food at Spago is 3-star quality at best. I ordered the Waygu steak, and every piece had some kind of a tough tendon piece in it. The Thai seafood my wife ordered was blend and half made of egg plants, and just 1 piece of scallop and some fish. We had to return both dishes. The replacement course MOI whole fish was good, but I’d expect overall experience is better at such a high-end restaurant. We have been eating in the Wailea various 5-start resort restaurants for the past 4 nights, and every single one of the others were better than Spago. If you are looking for an alternative, try Nick’s Fishmarket at the Fairmount hotel next door, or the Morimoto at Andaz a few blocks away. I won’t be back at Spago ever.
