The food was ok, out of 4 dishes:2 plates of food were good, 2 plates of food were not. the fish Is fresh but who’s isn’t on the island. their famous maiti, tasted more infamous than famous, it really had no flavor. service was so,so and the cleanliness of the place wasn’t the best(one of our water glasses smelled like it was washed in the ocean)For what our expectations had built up for a first night in HI, **/*****, 2 stars17 Aug, 2012The food was ok, out of 4 dishes:2 plates of food were good, 2 plates of food were not. fe fish Is fresh but who’s isn’t on the island. their famous maiti, tasted more infamous than famous, it really had no flavor. Definitely no life music either..04 Mar, 2012Website made it sound like this restaurant was located right near the lighthouse so you could watch the sunset. Definitely not near the water.. Took a while for the hostess to seat seat us and for our waitress to come greet us. She didn’t know what the age cut off was for being 21, thought 1989 was too young. Dumb. The food portions were extremely tiny. Food was good but service was awful.
Awful food. Mine came out cold. Maybe it’s better at lunch, but DON’T go for dinner.
Nice ambiance with live guitar music. Enthusiastic waiter. Great wine prices. Food was okay – fish slightly overcooked and tough and fairly expensive at about twenty eight a plate and ala carte. I would not go back unless to hear music and sip wine and maybe order some pupus.
Fresh, generous portions. Our experience at the Lighthouse Bistro was the highlight of our dining out evenings. The location is in a historic complex where you can wander around afterwards for a little shopping. Back to the food: we all tried something different and sampled each others plates. We give this place high marks for the fresh greens and Italian entrees. The server also made our experience there special.
The measure of a chef is how well he or she does with the basics. This chef is phenomenal and most of the selections use local ingredients.
Kids Liked It. The kids (16 & 19) liked the pasta bar. Choose your pasta and sauce. Wife liked the macadamia nut encrusted chicken. I had the coconut shrimp and Clam Chowder. The shrimp was great. I can’t say the same for the Clam Chowder. Service was good and attentive, nice outdoor feel with live music for nice touch.
