Amazing food & yes, the coconut shrimp is amazing – the coconut sauce/syrup & drizzle are so good we had to order it twice. Great atmosphere, wait staff, drinks & food. We wish we had visited sooner. Great job -mahalo!

On a hot afternoon, while navigating through a minefield oftourist traps with our wives (in Koloa), my buddy & I decide to escape the torturousordeal by having a couple of local, cold brews at the Garden Island Grille(GIG). Initially, we were only going to have one cold one and headout, but the uniqueness of the Garden Island Grille seduced us into stayinglonger & having a meal. The layoutof the Garden Island Grille morphs from an indoor seating area into an opencentral stage area (no roof). This architecture adaptation transforms the bustlingtown street outside into a quiet, exotic, outdoor environment. In the center stage area was a musician strumming out harmoniousisland songs for our enjoyment. His namewas Kona Jones. He provides an entertainingone man show. The best part of his showoccurs during his breaks, you have a chance to chat with him and listen to humorousstories about living on the island of Kauai. The truly pleasurable part of interacting with Kona Jones is that youfeel like you have become part of the island & its culture. The beers are done and it is time to switch to appetizers& cocktails, because our lovely better halves are still out perusing thelocal shops & boutiques. With our fruit filled cocktails, we startmeeting some of the local wildlife in the area. No, not wild patrons, but real wildlife (see picture of orange spottedgeckos). It seems that these cute & colorfullizards like maraschino cherries. Who doesnt? It was entertaining watching the geckos tango around thecherry, trying to intimidate the other gecko from eating the cherry. Now our beloved Princesses arrive and they believe it istime for a meal. We decide on the dailyspecials which were creative fish dishes. They were fresh & satisfying. For what seemed to be a boring afternoon of souvenir hunting, the Garden Island Grille made our day.As you leave the Garden Island Grille, make sure you take a moment to ponderthe immensity of the Monkeypod tree. Aloha!

Live music and laid back. We only had a few things to share but it was all pretty darn good. Coconut Shrimp and calamari steaks were awesome. And we shared fish tacos. My pins colada was also a good option.
