The food was great, service not so much. We were in a large group split into two tables. When time to. pay the $700 bill for all 15 adults it was on one ticket. When asked about splitting it up we were told it could only be run on 4 cards and we had to split up how much on each. Our server also so nicely said that if he’d been told earlier that we needed the checks split it would have been easier. Several people had said to put different items on different tabs. We also noticed the already added gratuity was high-it was on the post tax total. It took over half an hour to figure out the separate totals, and we spoke with a manager twice who basically said this was all our fault and never apologized at all. Even walked away while someone from our group was still talking. Will never go back here again.

Great service and really good fresh food made this a place I would definitely recommend. The gluten free options were plentiful and delicious and the margaritas were deadly in a very good way! We didn’t realize that upstairs and downstairs had a slightly different menu, there seemed to be a little more variety upstairs. Also, if you manage to catch this place for brunch they have a huge range of options, plus they do brunch until 3 so there’s no rush to get there. Tried the steak fajita, cerviche, ahi hash, huevos divorciados. All great but the cerviche could have been more shrimp and less fish.

It made my taste buds tingle with delight. The table side guacamole was delicious and the shredded beef enchilada was very good too. Nice portion size. I would recommend.

dios mio, es terrible!. Heard some good things about Tortilla Republic and upon reading the menu it seemed promising. We opted for the more casual downstairs over the upstairs which may have been our first mistake. Starting off with the guacamole, it was really tragic. And $11! That is insane considering they have a farmers market every Wednesday directly outside of Tortilla Republic where you can buy an avocado the size of your head for $2. It completely lacked any acid and was basically just a small portion of mushed avocado for 11 bucks. I opted for the fish tacos and was once again let down by extremely poor quality fish that was horribly underseasoned. The part I enjoyed most about them was sharing half of it with the feral cats that were hanging out at my feet all night. My wife had the tortilla soup which strangely was the opposite of the other dishes as there was so much salt in it it was almost inedible. On top of all of this, we watched as our neighboring table sent their meal back twice and looked really pissed off. Then when we finished our meal our server was nowhere to be found; after waiting about 15 mins without human contact we finally just went inside and paid up at the bar. This place is a huge pass for me and if you are in the market for some seriously amazing tacos in Kauai, pass by this glitzy tourist stop and hit the Island Taco in Waimea or Mermaid’s in Kapa’a.

Bad Fish Tacos The fish t…. Bad Fish TacosThe fish tacos smelled ‘off ‘ and I refused to eat them. My wife ate them anyway, and did not feel well about 5 hours later.

Disappointed in this restaurant. The ambiance was nice so we thought it would be promising but the baja tacos were a huge let down and the service was slow. The chips with salsa sampler was the highlight.

Mexican in Hawaii. I tried this restaurant because it was recommended. However, what a total let down. A total tourist trap. I just had an app, a side a flautas, which was average and unmemorable. I guess sometimes you just have to ignore the hype.
