Here’s to getting lost in Maui and stumbling on an amazing bakery. T. Komoda is more of a general store with an awesome pastry selection that people line up for in the morning. From Malasadas, to glazed donuts, to long johns, adzuki donuts and more, there’s a whole variety of delicious sugar covered doughy delights. All the pastries are very soft and fluffy. Also if you’re lucky enough to get anything fresh out of the oven, they’re pretty much heaven. We weren’t really intending to go down the road that led us to Makawao, but thankfully we did because we’d never find this bakery. In fact, I would consider taking a trip out of my way next time in Maui to stock up on some of these amazing treats for the duration of my stay.

Must eat!. Everytime I’m home (I live on the mainland now), I have to go to Komodas for their stick donuts (so ono!). Get there early because they’ll sell out.

Try the stick donuts!. Great little place- what a character. Went here to pick up treats for the office after much hype by coworkers. I tried the famous cream puff first and almost vomited. Sorry but those are disgusted balls of gelatinous lard. HOWEVER- the stick donuts are insane. SOO good. Load up on them. Tried the quava malasadas and found the jelly repulsive. Still, I like this place for the character and the stick donuts!!

My Fave Bakery on Maui. Make me happy–bring cream puffs (if you can garner them) and bring them to my office. Even my 12yo foodie son will agree–these are the best cream puffs in Hawaii!

Here’s the scoop:. This hole in the wall is very good, in the right context. I tested this place with all of the fanfare made by our tour book and friends. Really, this place is not universally exceptional. It is REALLY inexpensive (6 pastries for $6!), and pretty tasty. The cream puff’s cream is different from the typical. It’s much less refined; I like it better! Skip the guava donuts..they’re kind of dry. Don’t drive across the island for it, but if you’re in the area stop by with the proper expectations.

Must try. Anybody visiting Maui must make a stop to Komoda’s for their glazed and/or glazed stick doughnuts. They put Krispy Kreme to shame.

Donut on a stick!!!. THis bakery is a must in Maui! We drove for an hour to get there, but it was totally worth it. From the outside, the restaurant looks really old and pathetic, you wouldn’t never be able to guess that such delicious things are made and sold in there. I highly recommend the donut on the stick, and the different turnovers. I was not super impressed with the cream puffs, although the review for it was very positive.
