Fun atmosphere! A mix between a pub and fast food joint. It was nice to get our food quickly when we just finished wanted something quick and take in the atmosphere with our teenagers. The fish tacos were great, although the chicken was pretty dry with my daughters chicken and waffles.
Breakfast at Down the Hatch with my old friend 50c this morning. Its a nice little open bar eatery in the middle of a three storey mall type thingy. We started with a jug of Bloody Mary, as you do. This was very spicy and peppery in the American style. Its growing on me, but its about…
Went here to grab a quick lunch. Took longer than expected. My friend got her food and it was about 25 minutes before mine arrived. Disappointed that she then had to wait on me to finish my meal. She really enjoyed her tacos. I had a Kiko Beach quesadilla which was not as good as anticipated.
This place is definitely under-rated. It was a nice bus ride from the Westin Maui and worth the trip into Lahaina. Food was exceptional and the menu was very creative. Reasonable prices too. We ordered:- Fried Chicken and Waffles – amazing! Came with a dipping sauce with bacon as well as maple syrup. I never would have put the two together but after tasting it, the flavours just WORK! Not only was it delicious but also really fun to eat. Some thing you don’t see too often. – Catch of the day. Delicious but husband says the fish serving was just a tad small.Atmosphere was great, it was in the central courtyard of the shopping village with a running water fountain. Service was ok, it isn’t table service. Need to order at the counter then find a seat and refill your own water glasses. Also a bit squishy but it’s a really nice vibe.
We had a group of 6 visit here, and our only issue was finding a table (they’re all open seating). In the meantime, we enjoyed a drink from the bar and had a few munchies. The best thing we had was the Lobster Grilled Cheeseburger. OMG, it was huge, and easily enough for 2 to share unless you have a really big appetite. We also enjoyed the Tacos Ono, and the Ahi Samurai. Will definitely go back when on Maui.
