Good times. The service, food, and ambiance were amazing. Our server was patient which made for a nice ordering experience. The porch section made for a nice comfortable meal.
A Terrific Experience. We were excited about dining at Gerard’s before arriving, and our expectations were more than met. The staff was engaged and professional; three of them attended to our table without being intrusive or leaving us wanting. The wine list is nicely balanced. All of us shared the Ahi tartare with house made taro chips — don’t miss it. The special was Hawaiian snapper that was only out of the water for a few hours. It sat on artichoke and fennel and was covered in a citrus butter. It is exactly what you hope for in a destination such as Maui.
We stopped going to this restaurant years ago , not because it was bad, because new places kept opening up, and Gerard’s dropped out of my memory bank. Just as good as before, I had Opakapaka that absolutely fresh. Staff is impeccable and very knowledgable. They do an excellent job with honoring reservations. My entire meal was fantastic, no misses on anything.
Perfect. Best fine dining experience thus far on Maui. Third time at this fabulous restaurant, and it could not have been better. On past occasions, we had complained of burning incense outside (for mosquitos?), but not an issue this time. Ahi Tartare & Fois Gras appetizers great, followed by awesome Duck and Pink Snapper entrees. Both food and service were impeccable!
Gerard’s OMG. I have dined at Gerard’s for many, many years. The staff is excellent and so professional. The food is always well prepared. and the Ahi tartare is something I dream about for weeks before arriving to Maui.Gerard’s is the best dining experience in Lahaina without question.
Underwhelmed.. We had dinner at Gerard’s last week during our first trip to Maui. We were excited to eat there after having read many positive reviews and after discovering just how difficult it can be to get a good meal in Maui. We had an appetizer, salad, split an entree and also had dessert, coffee and wine. Overall impressions: Decent appetizer (Tuna) , salad was a bit bland, Mahi Mahi entree was good but the preparation was nothing unexpected or exciting, just fish in butter sauce. Dessert was entirely too sweet to taste any other flavors in the cookies or buttercream. The service was prompt but definitely a bit snooty and uptight. It actually appeared to pain our server when she managed to muster a smile. Judging from the other patrons, Gerard’s seems to cater to an older crowd that considers Lobster Thermador and Surf/Turf as the height of culinary exploration. This is French food from 1975.Advice? You can get a better meal and overall experience just up the street at Lahaina Grill. Also they won’t charge you an extra 16 dollars just because you are sharing your entree.
Nothing short of perfect!. The food is probably the best food in Lahaina. When you go, make sure you are going to wine and dine and you will have a fabulous experience.
