Traditional, yet exquisite. Very tasteful, the food is fantastic as well as the view. Can not say enough how awesome the service was. The show is very educational and entertaining–splendid for all ages. One of my favorite memories in Lahaina.
Awesome luau! Easily the best of the ones I’ve been to. The unlimited drinks were great, food was pretty good too. The location and seating arrangement is the best though, you get a good view regardless of where you sit. Just stinks when it rains like it did in us. But definitely still fun!
Amazing!!. We went there for our honeymoon and it was amazing! The food, show, and service was all excellent! We went to a different Lua the last time we visited and there’s no comparison!!
Beautiful Oceanside Feast!. No one is more touristy than I am – decked out in a Hawaiian floral shirt, leid, fruity drink in hand, trying unsuccessfully to squat sit on my cushion at a traditional low table at the Old Lahaina Luau & Feast in Lahaina Maui. If I topple over backwards, Weeble-style in lotus position, my dignity would still be intact because happiness is feasting beachside, near sunset surrounded by happy tourists and the wafting aroma of roast pig – and poi.. The minute you arrive, you are treated with hospitality – the attendants, clothed in traditional floral wraps(?), efficiently direct where you can park, where to stand in line and where to pick up your tickets. You are then organized in clusters based on seating arrangements, and then expertly guided through different entrances leading to your tables. As you enter, Greeters offer you a choice of drink and immediately hand that drink to you, all while explaining where you can get more (at their open bar,) and always with smiling faces. What could have been very chaotic – because there were hundreds of us – is amazingly deftly handled. If only Six Flags were as efficient. During feast preparation, you are free to roam and participate in different Oceanside activity, from photo-ops to dance demonstrations to peruse local art stands. Each activity, is directed (I would later find out) by either participants of the show or wait staff. In fact, I notice the guy handling the rock toss game (kind of like a giant ground shuffleboard) was one of the guys directing traffic earlier! I watch as he jokes with the crowd egging them to participate and as I walked up to play, I say, it must be fun to do this every day. When he hands me the game rock, I notice that for a split microsecond, he breaks character and his facial expression says, Youve got to be kidding me! But hes quick to recover – he returns to character and smiles and says he loves it. Even a job in paradise is sometimes still work. The biggest pre-meal ceremony is the unearthing of the roast pig. If you go to their website youll see pictures. Under charcoal and sand, two bare-chested guys unearth a giant banana leaf swaddled pig and several giant pork roasts. Theyre hilarious as they banter with the tourists; their funny remarks only hint of sarcasm and resentment for us tourist types whove shelled out over a hundred bucks each to watch this show. The sound of the dinner bell announces everyone to return to their seats. We are escorted a table at a time to the dinner buffet. I dont think the pulled pork is the same pig that was unearthed a few minutes earlier. There wasnt enough time to prepare and separate the meat this fast. Im guessing the pig unearthed today is the one theyll use on the menu tomorrow. The pulled pork is good, but cold. The menu on the buffet is extensive leaf wrapped pork, beef tenderloin steak, and pineapple marinated chicken all delicious. I try poi for the first time since it was introduced to me on that special episode of The Brady Bunch Goes to Hawaii. It does not taste the way I expect. The show is fantastic. The history of the islands interpreted through dance. There are several costume changes and the dancers were beautiful but there seems to be a lack of pyrotechnics. I was hoping for more fire twirling. Overall a fun and wonderful night. If I were to do this again, I would choose tables and chairs. Though traditional squat down tables bring me closer to the action on stage, the rigor in my knees takes several minutes to return to an upright position.
Beautiful! Delicious! Fun!. Go for the waiters’ uniforms, stay for the dinner and show! The servers wear sarongs and their torsos are bare except for lean muscles and tattoos.I’ve been to three luaus and this is by far the best and classiest. If you have to be on the wait list, call them after 10 am to see if there were any cancellations. We got a table for 8 this way. The venue is beautiful. Theres a circular stage in the middle, and tiers of tables around the front half. There are no bad seats we were at the last table on the last tier (3rd?) and we could easily see the whole show.Everything was wonderful and well organized. There is plenty of parking, and they have lots of staff directing you to the correct place. On arrival you are dressed with a fuchsia lei, a flower, and your first drink. Then you are escorted to your table by handsome hosts.During the cocktail hour there are a number of Hawaiians demonstrating a variety of traditional activities. They are very personable and the setting is intimate. You are welcome to ask questions, and your kids are encouraged to participate. The ocean-front site is the perfect place for photographs. If you like, they will take your photo and sell you the picture, but they arent pushy and you are welcome to take your own pictures. The buffet was spectacular. First of all, they are set up with two buffets on either side of the stage, so eight tables of eight people are served first. Everything was delicious. The big hits were the ahi poke, pahole salad, and all the mains: kalua pork, mahi-mahi, pulehu steak, and passion fruit glazed chicken. The server brings you as many drinks as you like, and there is a lot to choose from. After dinner he brings a tray of different dessert squares, each one unique. Then the show starts. There’s singing, hula, drumming, story telling and lots of costumes. None of the cheesiness or preaching I’ve experienced at other luaus. When the show is over, the host brings a parting gift of banana bread (delicious!).I would highly recommend this luau!
We went on a Friday night after being lucky enough to get in from the wait list on a cancelation. I would say overall it’s for sure worth the money. The show is excellent. The food is far above what a regular buffet would be and in particular the pork from the big roast was amazing. Drinks are included but they’re sugary and watered down ( order a beer or wine). Our service was okay but nothing special. We got in last minute so our seats weren’t the best, but I would go again and call far ahead of time and ask for something closer to the stage. Overall an excellent experience! Would definitely recommend this place!!
Can’t imagine a classier or better luau anywhere. Really well done. Worth the money.
