Amazing food! Great Service! Hidden Gem!!. Everyone was craving Thai food and I had come across this restaurant, it had pretty good rating and thought we would give it a try. Most amazing meal we had in Maui! This truly is a hidden gem. The service was great. It is also BYOB which we did not know but were informed of the ABC store that was very close. They also kept your beer cold and brought it out as you needed it. I had the yellow curry… so good!! I keep craving it! Word to the wise when they say things are spicy things are spicy. I have a pretty good heat tolerance and had the medium, that was plenty spicy, they can always add more if needed. You know a restaurant is good when you mostly see locals around you.
This is a great little spot tucked away off of Front street. Love the fact they offer brown rice as a side dish.
Good Food. Good food for the price. They don’t serve alcohol, if you want you can bring your own drinks.
Good food and fast service , but wait staff were very snooty which kind of ruined lunch.
These people have no idea what Thai food should taste like. Let me start off by saying that my wife is from Thailand and I have have lived in Southeast Asia myself. When we showed up at Thai Chef, my wife tried to explain exactly what we wanted in Thai and apparently no one in the restaurant spoke Thai … or was even Thai. OK … no problem … one does not have to be Thai to make decent Thai food.We ordered Tom Yung Koong (spicy shrimp soup) to start off and one of their fried Red Snapper dishes. The waitress asked if we wanted spicy and we said yes assuming that meant an authentic Thai level of heat. She brought out the soup and I swear this stuff tasted like lighter fluid … completely inedible. We sent the soup back so they could try again. Instead of making a new batch, they just tossed some water and lemon juice in the broth and brought it back out to us completely ruined. At this point, we lost patience and got up and walked out. Then, the manager chased us out into the parking lot demanding that we pay for the food that we could not eat. She argued with us for a bit, but we weren’t having any of it. As we walked off, she started screaming curses at us. Real classy. To make it even worse, my wife left some cheap souvenirs and a disposable underwater camera in the restaurant as we left in haste and when I called the restaurant, they acted like they had no idea what I was talking about. Again, real classy.Avoid this place like the plague. Pad Thai down the street was much better.
Love the food, service and what else can you ask for, its b.y.o.b!!
