Cheap food/tourists treated like a bother. Sones is open on Sundays. Its in the Kukui Grove Shopping Center, which makes it highly convenient.By island standards, the food is very cheap. Three of us were able to get out of Sones for about $20.00 with drinks. We had small plates and drinks. The food took the edge off the hunger from a long flight. However, the staff wasnt very friendly. Sones has the vibe of being a locals only hang-out. We asked to have the buffet explained to us, as were not experienced with Hawaiian food. The lady behind the counter was abrupt and not very helpful. The food was only average. Nothing looked fresh on the buffet. But for the price, I didnt expect a gourmet feast. I would have given the Sones a like but because of the attitude from the staff, it got a don’t like.
At first glance, Sone’s appears to be your average Hawaiian run of the mill cafeteria line restaurant. However, the food here is tremendously good and mostly healthy. The crab stuffed Ono special drew me in and I was very happy I made the choice.
