This is Maui’s best BBQ and as an extra bonus they have Maui’s best Mac & Cheese. My favorite is their amazingly flavorful ribs. Service is fast and friendly, with husband and wife owners usually there to make sure everything is great. mauihawaii.org

We thought it was really good. Ribs were very tender and meaty, portions large. Cornbread and Mac and Cheese excellent! Can’t judge everyone’s experience, but ours was very good. It has our endorsement, and We’ll be back!

Great little spot, my wife and I really enjoyed ourselves. Ron was super friendly and made us feel welcome, he brought her out a flower lei during our dinner. As for the food, I had the sample platter with a bit of everything. I enjoyed it all. Ribs are fall off the bone tender, and flavourful. Brisket was amazing. Sausage was well seasoned. Chicken was fantastic, just perfectly moist and tasted great. Pulled pork was really good too! Lemonade was great. The restaurant has all the right amounts of kitcsch on the walls, it’s like stepping out of Hawaii to Texas for a moment. I would recommend this place and would go back for sure.16 Nov, 2014Sample Platter, with Brisket, with BBQ Green Beans, Slaw, and Corn Bread. Excellent, filling. Sweet or spicy BBQ sauce.

Touchy BBQ. SERVICE: There was a fake attempt to be friendly by the staff and problems with boundaries. The older man who greeted us called my husband bro. I believe this white man was trying to relate to my husband who is African American. I found it offensive that he called him bro and went so far to touch him on his waist and shoulder as if he knew him. After we were served the same white man visited us at our table. I thought he was trying to be hospitable but it was bad news. I would never write a yelp review like this but I’ve never in my life felt so uncomfortable at a restaurant with my husband. This man continued to touch him at our table. Not only on his shoulder but on his waist. I felt that this man made a pass at my husband or he has zero understanding about personal boundaries. My husband said that he felt very uncomfortable by this staff member. Sitting and watching this happen put me off guard and I would have to say the staffs behavior went beyond normal friendly behavior. My husband told me later that he felt violated. The other man (I believe the owner was very nice and gave me a flower. This is a gimmick to bring back customers. He had forgotten that he gave me a flower a few days prior to this experience. I understand this is the guys gimmick but it is unneeded. A good restaurant stands on its own without fake gimmicks and awkward fake attempts to be friendly.AMBIANCE: Below average. There were some sexist signs on the wall and bad country music. Overall the place was empty on a Saturday nightFOOD: Brisket and mac and cheese was delicious , the pulled pork and chicken was good, the sausage was very salty and the ribs were hit and miss. The first time they were fall off the bone and second time they were touch.RECOMMENDATIONS1. If this restaurant wants more business a recommendation would be to not have this man greet customers or touch customers. 2. I would tell the owner to take down the sexist signs on the wall and know your audience. 3. This means to not act different to customers because they are a different racial background. 4. Gimmicks do not bring propel back. Safe environments and good food makes people come back.Although the first time at this restaurant was good the second time has left me with one of the worst memorable experiences of a Hawaii. For the remaining part of the vacation we plan to go restaurants that are better run to have a better eating experience. These other restaurants are more expensive but safer when it comes to staff and appropriate behavior in a restaurant.
