The drive out to this restaurant is so beautiful, Maui definitely is a wonderful place to visit and find these so special restaurants along the way. We go here all the time and there elk and venison burgers are amazing. The store has such classical cowboy western type clothing and it’s always so fun to visit. A must place for locals and visitors.

Beautiful, comfortable place with great burgers and friendly staff. The beautiful drive on the Kula Hwy to this spot (also by a winery) is equally rewarding when you reach the ranch/grill. They serve up fresh-prepared grill fare, so my husband and I each had an elk burger with some pop/juice from their store fridge. These burgers are served up tender and juicy. I was worried elk might come out dry like bison, but they don’t cook it to well done (so for those of you who can’t stomach the idea of pinkish meat, either ask for well done, and maybe opt for beef in lieu of elk). If the meat is of good quality and they know its source (etc, etc), I’m fine with that. The buns were nice and soft too, and held up well to the condiments. It’s not McD’s, so be patient while they grill your burger with care. They’ll call your name when it’s ready, so hang on to your ticket. The store has all kinds of other goodies/candies/etc to browse, and there was live entertainment (guitar player) when we were there. Note that lunch runs mid-day; you can’t drop in anytime and find the place open for a meal. Seating is outdoors: some picnic tables out on the lawn, others beneath the verandah’s overhang/canopy.The winery across the road was also a lovely spot to try several intriguing wines (including pineapple wines – some subtle and some sweet) and shop souvenirs or other edibles.
Maui Cattle Burgers. We decided to take the southern route to Hana and stopped here to use the restrooms and to stretch our legs. Then we caught a whiff of the burgers on the grill and had no choice but to try them.In the back of a general store you place your order then go outside and watch the sole cook prepare burgers and other grilled dishes of all sorts for people seated at the park bench style tables. All sorts of people are there waiting and eating – families, bikers, etc. Most enjoyable burger. Maui beef is leaner than what we get on the mainland, so the taste is unique. We will make this stop a staple in future trips to Hana.
A hidden gem in the clouds above Wailea. You’ll feel like a kid in a candy store. Their shelves are stocked with Hawaiian treats such as multiple brands of taro chips, POG like drinks, and in the back is a big grill cooking up various game and farm burgers with any fixings you desire. Friendly folks, great munchies, friendly cats greeting you with a meow, and a winery literally across the street. Go for the drive, stay for the food and wine.
