Great food and service in an amazing setting. Our waitress was so kind to our kids and she taught us a few Hawaiian words while explaining the menu.
Favorite Setting on the Big Island. The setting during the sunset is magical. The food is right there with it. You cannot go wrong with Brown’s. The food is pricey…you are at The Fairmont on the Big Island of Hawaii. I have tried practically every dish on the menu and they are all great.
Practically perfect. This is a very special place. It is almost shocking that only 83% of people like it. They say you can’t please all the people. But I bet that more than 83% of random people would call it heaven. Heaven! Imagine for a moment you are transported from the everydayness of your life, to a tranquil table just this side of a golden beach. The waves are gently playing with shoreline. The server come to your table, and smiles at you like she is glad it is you at her table. The bread comes, and it is warm, and there are three or four kinds, and a cracker bread. The butter has Hawaiian salt on it, and there is a dip in case you are adventurous. There is a little gift from the chef, a surprise tiny plate. All through your experience, there is always something in front of you. And yet the meal is paced such that you began eating when the sun was up, and now there are stars out. This place is so much nicer than just about any other place you could choose to eat on this island that if you are looking for an ultimate experience, you can safely risk it. The cuisine is Laotian. A bit different than the norm. Very tasty, exotic, imaginative, delicate but fulfilling.
Entrees are huge! Two apps and entree would have been perfect for dinner.
Amazing experience! Gail rocks!. 1st night of our honeymoon, and what an amazing experience! Everything was perfect. Delicious amuse, stunningly good app, and the entree we shared was perfect. The dessert was fabulous (banana tatin, vanilla ice cream topped with Carmel popcorn, and under it all the plate was brushed with the perfect amount of dark chocolate. What a perfect dinner! Our server was Gail, the friendliest most perfect service!
Good times!!. We just dined at Brown’s over the weekend and overall had a very nice experience. Initially, we were overlooked, perhaps forgotten, and it took 15 minutes or so before our server realized we were there. She was very nice and quite apologetic. My only advice is not to offer up excuses, apologizing is enough – they were clearly short-staffed. Otherwise, everything was great! From the Amuse to the Dessert…fabulous! To add to the experience, the talented Nifai Brown was the entertainer that night. We will return!!
My wife’s favorite place!!. Need I say more. Brown’s is more about being at a comfortable outdoor family gathering than being in a hotel eatery. The setting would be enough to satisfy and, by golly, the food’s great, too. The service has always been top notch and our meals there have always been exceptional. The new chef has added a new dimension to the food without taking out the basic elements of Hawaii Regional Cuisine. Our ‘Special’ dinner place.
