The Pastele special is the best Puerto Rican food I have tasted on the Island. This is coming from a Puerto Rican who has been to Puerto Rico several times.
A true locals joint. The Kahla pork was decent, but a little bland. The macaroni salad was excellent! Onions rings were also good. But honestly you could eat cardboard in Hawaii and rate it a 4.0.

Great food at a price you can’t beat. Also the best Mac salad I’ve ever had.
For a fast food restaurant the service is extremely slow. The workers are very unprofessional. I had to wait five minutes at the window for someone just to take my order and they weren’t even busy. Very poor service and low quality food. Yet it is the cheapest eat in Hilo other than places such as McDonald’s and taco bell.
