SAD!!! NEVER GO THERE!!!. We joined some friends and I was planning on paying my own bill! When I went up to take care of my bill with my family they told me I can’t there will be only one check! I had a GC I wanted to use they said I could not! Because the party is getting 20% Birthday Deal! NO DEAL cause you have to have a drink with meal so there is the 20%!!!!! Food always empty! Wait help takes for ever to get to you! When I was standing to pay one wait help asked me is everything okay I go off! About not letting me pay my own bill She tell me oh that the computer it wont’s let you do that yea RIGHT! I tell and so sad food so empty! SHE has her NERVE to tell me well we close in 1/2 hour! I said hello I been here an hour no difference! Don’t care if there is only 1/2 hour I still pay full price what I get a discount cause there is only 1/2 left????? Place is so dirty! Always waiting for dirty bowls! They don’t know how to wash! So sad don’t even think about going there not even if it’s FREE!!!!

First of all, let me say that I have never written a review of anything, but my experience at this place was so horrific that I was inspired to write one here. The nightmare started as I stood in the lobby area with other customers waiting to be seated. I was barely there 5 minutes when a heavy set haole guy yelled…and I mean YELLED…at us to wait outside. He was completely rude and really didn’t seem to care at all how the patrons were treated. I would have walked out right there and then, but I was there for a birthday party so I stayed. The place looked old, worn and dirty. There were rips in the seats and the whole place generally looked like it needed a power washing. There was a vast variety of food, bur honestly none of it was great. The food was okay at best. The only good thing I have to say about this restaurant was that the young servers were polite and seemed to be hard working. I feel sorry for them if that screaming douche is their boss. Bottom-line: Don’t go there!

By far the worst place I’ve been to. The people that worked there were mean didn’t make you feel welcomed. The food was BAD!!!! I wouldn’t recommend this place even to my enemies. Well maybe. 🙂

Makino Chaya – Haiiiiii-yah!. The food is sub-standard and way too pricey for what you receive. The overall place is pretty filthy without much care given to dishware (many of their plates and silverware were dirty), the food stations were also poorly maintained, presentation of the food displays were grungy and shoddy, and there were flies around the food area by the sushi/fruit area. It is an indoor restaurant. There was a distinctly unappetizing odor that penetrated your senses upon entering the restaurant and a full view of the dirty side kitchen for all to see. I should’ve hightailed it out of there, but I went with it. All in all, it was one of the worst buffets I have ever eaten on island. Don’t waste your eyesight on the bento lunches to the side of the front entrance either, they are sloppily made and look like 3 day old leftovers. Auwe! The wait help are very nice.

Been there twice for sunday lunch and it was soooooo delicious. the crab legs were yummy, but my favorite was the sushi and shrimp tempura. i plan on going back there on my vacation.

Food was good but too expensive. They had a good variety of food. I loved the pork ribs!! and the steak made to order is awesome. They also have a great sushi bar and lots of seafood. I liked it because it didn’t have that much american food.

Makino Chaya-Not sure if it’s worth $29 plus tip. But if you stick to the crab and lobster entrees, then I guess it’s alright.
