Very unimpressed. My wife and I went to this restaurant with great expectations. Unfortunately it was a disappointment. The staff was great, but the food was terrible. Her spaghetti with meat sauce was super greasy and it tasted like if it came out a Chef Boyardee can. The meat was so greasy that it left a film on the bottom of the plate. We left half our portions (I had the split-pea risotto which was not much better.) as it was better to leave it than to suffer through it.To top it off, the food was so greasy that it literally made us sick to our stomachs.
Delicious!. I recently went to Dondero’s, I had been there before, but this time it was different. A new menu was introduced with a great variety of Italian dishes, some really great ones that made it hard for me to choose. I was even inspired to try roasted & carmelized brussel sprouts that were amazing! The lobster and crab pasta was INCREDIBLE and was not expensive…$24 I think. It was a great dinner with my husband, I am tempted to ask to go for Valentine’s too. I would highly recommend checking out their new menu!
Bad tuna and you call that risotto. One can get a great Osso buco in many places in the world, making it paramount to prepare to perfection in a place like this, sadly it was just ok, and the accompanying risotto looked like vomit. The tuna carpaccio that proceeded was spoiled and the server tried to convince me that it was cut close to the blood line, yikes!
Major disappointment: bland starters, ok osso bucco, decent risotto, but nothing impressive. Service was also sub-par: unreasonably slow, and our waiter had no grasp of the wine list. Easily the worst Grand Hyatt option.
Dondero’s was an amazing treat. The lamb starter melted in my mouth. Lightly fried calamari so light and flavorful. The scallops really tender. Even though we were stuffed I could not resist ordering two desserts. The tiarmisu flavorful light and fluffy. Their chocolate orange desert complex and wonderfully rich. I can not wait to go back. The service was spot on. My checque was less than expected for such a fantastic meal. Filling and delicious, I will be back.05 Mar, 2011DDondero’s was an amazing treat. They got an amazing new chef a couple years ago. The portions may be small but it’s so delectable you’ll be completely satisfied. The best restaurant on the island!
Outstanding food but served in very small portions from previous years. Unfortunately prices were not adjusted for the smaller portion size and you will spend a premium price for a little portion. Overall food excellent but be ready to drop a few 100 for a table of 4
