We were there during the off time (1-2pm) and service was great. Food and beer was great for the price compared to the resort prices we have been paying. Wings and the mandarin chicken salad were great.
Great atmosphere, delicious food. In my group we ordered the fresh fish burrito, lobster quesadilla, fresh fish and chips and the fresh fish tacos. All were delicious!! Yummy drinks too. I’m glad we didn’t listen to the negative reviews!
Sweet atmosphere a tunes. Lots of tvs to catch games. Service was good. Wings are a safe bet, but nothing more. Brie app was decent. Pork wontons were the worst thing we have eaten in months. Tasted like under seasoned cardboard stuffed with dog food. No amount of sauce could compensate. If return, will get beers only.
Checked the reviews after an early dinner here and surprised at the negative reviews. Cuban Pastrami sandwich is awesome. Very good burgers and the swordfish sandwich was excellent. Really good seasoned fries. Appetisers (chips & salsa and wicked hot buffalo wings) and entrees were served quickly by friendly, attentive staff. We are glad we found Kalapaki Joe’s before the end of our vacation so that we can come back again before we head home.
Not So Epic on Service. My family had lunch on Presidents Day and we had such a bad experience. the food is okay but I don’t think I will return to this KJ location. There were only 2 servers on the floor and everything took so long. The server acknowledged we needed more water after we were done eating. She hardly checked in on how everything was. We had to ask for the tartar sauce with our fish and chips. The other server also the bartender asked if my husband if he wanted another beer right before I asked for the check. That is very backwards. Perhaps it was an understaffed day but overall service was not not. We have had better food and dining experience at the KJ Lihue location
HORRIBLE service, bad food. We were there last week (group of 8) and the service was awful, one of the worst I’ve ever experienced. We didn’t receive menus for at least 15 minutes, our drinks didn’t come for another 15-20 minutes and the food was almost an hour after that. She didn’t bring us a lot of what we ordered (sides of mayo, extra tea or coke, waters, side of bbq sauce, etc etc.), even after we asked for it a couple times. Food was luke-warm at best and it was BAD. Then our waitress disappeared b/c she fell, and nobody came in her place. We finally tracked somebody down for our bill and when I said that I have a problem with the automatic 18% gratuity (b/c of the party of 8), she said ‘the menu specifies that we charge 18% for parties of 6 or more.’ That was that. It was awful. I hope you don’t support a place with such bad service and food who didn’t seem to care that they had such bad service and food.
Meh. We went there on the recommendation in the Kauai Revealed guide book. Service was friendly but the food took a LONG time to arrive (we got there at about 5:30p, on a Wednesday) and the place was about half or two-thirds full. I had the fish tacos ($3/ea during Happy Hour). An hour later I still have a fishy taste in my mouth and on my fingers. They paled in comparison to the delicious fish tacos we had at the Chalupa’s van the day before. We also ordered a dozen of the .25 chicken wings (Happy Hour). They were very tough. Even though we’re staying in a condo on the same property as Kalapaki Joe’s, we won’t be going back.
