First day in Honolulu and first lunch here just hours after landing. Wow what a way to start the vacay!Nestled amongst the Outrigger resort with front seat views of Waikiki Beach. We were seated immediately and within minutes our waiter came and started checking up on us. I’m not big on cocktails but I’m trying to be adventurous and I wanted to choose between the chi chi or pina colada and he helped me make the right one. Boy, the chi chi is delish! For our mains we ordered fish and chips, fish tacos and the shore original burger. The burger was my choice and I chose to also add the extra cheese bacon and avocado. Simply wow. Highly recommend this!Overall I think this place is definitely a must try! It cost us roughly $100 for 4 people and there was not an empty plate in sight. miliscorner.com
Fun experience. I’ve never been to a restaurant where I had to cook my own meat, but it was an experience and was fun. Salad bar was good, lots of choices. The grills are prepped with seasonings for you. Was a different but fun dinner experience. Right out on the beach overlooking the ocean/beach. Doesn’t get much better than that.
Good food at a good price. Breakfast buffet is better than the lunch because here are more fresh fruits to choose from and there are bakery items too, like croissants, muffins and scones. Lunch however, is nice too because there are an assortment of veggies and lots of salad!
Good and not Good…. Firstly the thrill of cooking your own meat etc wears off very quickly and it’s disgustingly hot over the grill. We had to move tables because we were in the smoky firing line when we first sat down and it was unbearable to us.The food was ok, and the Salad bar was just ok – the Chili was the best part of that. You can’t grill your own onions – you have to order and pay for that separately!!Honestly, the best part (except for the view) was the Frozen Mojito – it was the BEST, and a really clever way to get the full fabulous flavour of a classic Mojito! The Karaoke that begins at 9.30 is fun too!You don’t really go for the food.
Not Breaking from the Crowd. We ate lunch at Shore Bird because it was right on the beach. Casual dining inside a hotel. Server was prompt and friendly but I felt bad for her. The female servers all were wearing very short shorts, a look that I find repulsive. If that is going to be the dress code they should make the waiters wear short shorts as well. I ordered the mahi mahi sandwich and my husband had a hamburger, both of which were average. We enjoyed the bucket of fries, a mixture of sweet potato and regular potato, crispy and hot. The Mai Tais were flavorless, tasted watered down. Nice venue in a beautiful spot, but forget the food–just have drinks (not Mai Tais) in the bar.
The $15 buffet breakfast was cheap and filling, and we came here more for the convenience (staying at this resort) than the food. Afternoon drinks – we were only allowed to sit at the bar and not the tables unless we ordered a main meal. Bar food was not appealing. Not impressed with the place. However, my friends did like the cook your own lobster dinner. foodpornjournal.com
Great Sunset. This is the best place for a sunset! The best view is down near the grills. Get here early if you want to dine with a sunset view. Ours was from the bar, but was able to walk the whole dining room for the best views. The wait for a sunset view was unexpected with how early we arrived. The dining experience was something unexpected. You have the salad bar, which is pretty good. Then your server brings your entrees, prepared but raw!!You then take your entrees to the 8 restaurant sized grills and cook your own dinner according to the directions from your server or read off the wall. The grills are hot as heck. Personally I had the fresh grill it yourself Mahi Mahi. YUM!!! I would recommend it.Open air dining, beachside, grill it yourself food, buffet salad bar and good cocktails. A wonderful experience!!
