This one another great recommendation from a friend who had been here. A great end to our holiday in Hawaii. We booked 1 month in advance to make sure that we get a seat at the time that we wanted. In case you missed it, this is a rotating restaurant. Dont worry it doesnt spin as such. In fact you cant really feel it moving. But yes you get to see a change in scenery. Before booking I would recommend you check what time is sunsets and book 30min prior. This way you get to experience day and night scene. FOOD – was fantastic! For entree I had the foie gras with brioche. The foie gras was smooth and creamy. The brioche made it extra rich. Probably prefer it with something but lighter and crunchy like lavosh bread or crispy oven baked bagel slices. My friend had the crab cakes. For main I had the miso glazed rib eye and my friend had the fillet mignon. My steak was HUGE! At least 500g and it was cook to perfection. The miso glazed gave that umami flavour, slightly sweet, slightly salty. The meat just melt in your mouth. Honestly it was very delicious. But I couldnt finish it because I was determined to have a dessert. I wanted to try their signature apple pie. Always a bit of a risk when ordering an apple dessert as Im not a big fan of cinnamon. But this one is not too overwhelming. The best part was the pastry. It was flaky and buttery, YUM! SERVICE- was average. I feel like she was working on a clock and just trying to get things done without consideration of the customers experience. For example, we were in the middle of enjoying our entree and in a middle of a conversation and the waiter pushed her way in and set the table with steak knifes and all. I mean, cant it wait? Does it really need to be done right this second? I know my expectations when it comes to fine dining is pretty high. Especially when Im paying $$$ for their service. All in all still a great experience. Food was fantastic and the ambience was wonderful. Despite the bad service we experienced I would still recommend it. Hopefully you get a different waiter.
Such a fantastic way to end our trip in Hawaii. We reserved seats just before sun down, so we witnessed the sunset at our table while the restaurant caught the view of the ocean. Great atmosphere and we had lovely waitresses! I ordered the duck pizza for my entree and the mid braised ribs for main – easy to say both were delish! It was pricey but hey, it was our last night to enjoy the great view, and dont regret it!
Dined at noon with a group of 20 for our farewell Hawaii lunch. The salads were excellent. I had the alternative asparagus salad which was outstanding. The mixed greens salad looked very good too. The wife had the chicken breast with mashed potatoes, green beans, and carrots. I had the same sides but had pork tenderloin instead. Both meals were well presented and tasty. For desert we got a mixture of their deserts – creme burlee, cheese cake, cream puff. All excellent. Service was top notch throughout the meal. The restaurant rotated once in the time we were there giving us a great look at Honolulu. Worth a visit if want excellent food, service and great views.
Amazing view. Can do full spin in under an hour. We started with coconut shrimp and scallops; followed with surf and turf (for me) and balsamic ribeye (for my husband). Finished with an apple pie (hubby) and lemon mascarpone cheesecake (me). Ambience is nice despite updating/construction. The only irritating part was that (despite having a reservation for about 24 hours) we still had to wait 25 minutes; another couple who came in when we did and didn’t have a reservation was seated 10 minutes after us. Service was fantastic!! We’d definitely eat there again!
What has happened to the happy hour food and drinks.. We have been to happy hours at the Top of Waikiki for the past five years while visiting from New Jersey and always enjoyed .the good drinks and food. this year beer on happy hour was bud draft the other drinks were like ice cream shakes with the bar tenders measuring every thing they poured and very slow. The food was disgusting and very expensive the fish and chips looked more like a dumpling and chips. will not go there again.
Old and expensive. Typical overpriced restaurant relying on the revolving view – which is better from most hotels as this is only about 18 floors up!It’s very old and dated and the food a major disappointment. If you want to experience it first – just go for happy hour, it will give you a good idea of what is it all about!Laughable too that they actually mention a dress code – but let the men in with their swimming shorts and flip flops!!!!!!!!!!!Also annoying that no where on the website etc does it mention any prices!!!I wouldn’t waste my time – much better choices in Waikiki.
Yum!. Had the 7 course degustation and was delightful! I could only eat so much though! Loved the corn chowder and would return just for that! Scallops were amazing but they are everywhere and everything else was just as good! View was amazing but suggest going at sunset as you still can see a lot, we booked a table at 8pm which was okay still a nice skyline but could see more with some sun! A bit expensive but thats to be assumed. Would return immediately!
